Continuing to Preview Wisconsin Kids at Summer Jam

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This coming week possesses one of the biggest AAU tournaments of the month, Summer Jam. Over the next few days, I want to highlight a few kids from Wisconsin and around the Midwest. There will be standout talent from our state, Minnesota, Iowa, and the Dakotas, with all the top pools going directly into bracket play in a 16-team tournament. Let's discuss some kids to watch if you'll be in the Twin Cities this week, starting with some Wisconsin kids tonight.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='528122' first='Melena' last='Glysch']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Muskego wing/forward is one of the more physical kids in her class, and when she hits kids, they usually get out of the way the next time she goes to the rim. She played well in Waukesha in April, and her physicality can catch kids off guard if they aren't expecting it. As a Wisconsin Impact kid, she also gets a chance to show her touch from the outside, and for a kid who'd spent most of her time around the rim in high school, it's better than you'd think. She can punish defenses for overhelping off her, making a few three-pointers a game, and altering how defenses play.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='509699' first='Graycin' last='Phillips']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Of all the kids in the 2026 class, Phillips is the most intriguing. That's because you don't know where her ceiling is yet. She's been going through a positional change, and due to that, the way, at least, I see her is on a grading curve. There are still growing pains, but there are times when you can see her excel as a wing after being a post for a long time. I'm eager to see her in the top 15U bracket.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='266986' first='Molly' last='Janke']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I haven't seen Janke play in a while, so I'm excited to see her play in person again is an understatement. She's been one of the better players in the Middle Border Conference for some time now, and she made the change to play for Border Select this season, and she'll get plenty of playing time and will have a chance to help her team make a deep run into the tournament. I think she's one of the more undervalued kids in the 2024 class, but with a good weekend, I believe more people will learn what she can do.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='342359' first='Sam' last='Jacobsen']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Jacobsen is another kid I haven't seen in person for about 11 months, and she also moved over to Border Select. She's one of the best kids at getting to the rim, even though everyone knows that's what she's doing. She had a solid game against Notre Dame last year in the state semifinals, and I thought she did an excellent job doing that same thing this past summer. Jacobsen has been an integral part of what the Menomonie Mustangs have done these past few seasons, and I'm eager to see how much better she's gotten.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
