It was a great game to watch to wrap up my scouting trip to Southeast Kansas.
Olathe West entered the game with no losses while Maize South had one loss. The Owls defeated the Mavericks 37-31 and here is a report on the top performers.
Emma Sales Emma Sales 5'10" | SG Olathe West | 2025 State KS , 5’10”, SG, Olathe West ‘25
Sales may have had her best game of the tournament in the most important game. She finished with a team-high 14 points in the win. She hit some really clutch free throws near the end of the contest and made two 3-point plays by cashing in the freebie shots. In the early morning win, she was a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
Emma Thomas, 5’11, C, Olathe West, ‘24
Thomas who is being recruited to play Division I soccer had her best game of the tournament. She finished with 13 points and hit two 3-point field goals. She is a goalie on the Owl soccer team.
Ava Howie Ava Howie 5'11" | PF Maize South | 2024 State KS , 5’11”, PF, Maize South ‘24
Howe is a solid player on both ends of the court. She is a three-level scorer with a really sweet-looking jump shot. She scored two points in the loss to Olathe West and gobbled up four rebounds.
Ashley Singhateh Ashley Singhateh 5'8" | PG Maize South | 2024 State KS , 5’8″, SG, Maize South ‘24
Singhateh is transferring to Maize South from Eureka. She had a solid scoring game in the loss finishing with 16 points. She is super strong and very quick. She loves to drive the ball to the basket. She also is a solid free throw shooter, as she shot 5-of-6 from the free throw line in the loss to Olathe West.
Ali Singhateh Ali Singhateh 5'7" | CG Eureka | 2026 State KS , 5’10”, F, Maize South ‘26
The younger of the Singhateh sisters is a dominant force inside and probably as strong if not stronger than her older sister. She scored six points in the loss to Olathe West and added two rebounds. She is sneaky quick down low and definitely causes matchup problems for defenders.
