Continue ReadingIt hasn’t been that long since our last recruiting update in New Jersey, but quite a bit has gone on recently in the world of high school girls basketball statewide. We had a number of offers and some players attending college camps to touch upon. Here is our latest recruiting update and more for New Jersey.
Reese Downey Reese Downey 5'7" | PG Absegami | 2025 State NJ – Absegami (2025) offered by Fairleigh Dickinson
We’re actually surprised that it’s taken this long for the Absegami rising junior to earn her first Division I offer, but she finally earned it, posting on social media on Tuesday an offer from Fairleigh Dickinson.
What a scorer Downey has been in her high school career, and that is in all facets of her offensive game, from in the lane, to midrange, to beyond the arc, where she’s excelled with ease. Let’s not forget how well-rounded of a player she’s been overall and how insane of a leader she’s developed into as a sophomore.
Nila Giraud Nila Giraud 6'0" | PF Montclair Immaculate | 2025 State NJ – Montclair Immaculate (2025) offered by St. Joseph’s
Giraud has been amongst the players we’ve included in recent recruiting updates, and she’s added yet another Division I offer to her resume in St. Joseph’s.
The pedigree for success is there and it begins with her size, playing as a 6-0 stretch forward. She’s nimble on the floor and has the tendencies of a guard while playing as a frontcourt piece. It’s been really impressive to watch and her success is only continuing over time. Her junior year will be that much more of a breakout season without a doubt.
Sofia Valente Sofia Valente 5'9" | SG Immaculate Heart | 2025 State NJ – Immaculate Heart (2025) visits Holy Cross, Harvard
The Immaculate Heart rising junior has been more than busy over the last week, taking visits to both Holy Cross and Harvard, though it’s unclear if they were unofficial visits or if she was attending camps.
Regardless of why she was there, it’s more than due for her to getting respect and looks from Division I programs. Valente was a big part of IHA’s run toward a NJSIAA Non-Public crown and her growth as a sophomore was more than noticeable. We’re really hoping for a big junior year out of her that hopefully will produce some offers.
Reese Sebok Reese Sebok 5'10" | SG St. Thomas Aquinas | 2026 NJ – St. Thomas Aquinas (2026) attends Columbia Elite Camp
More players, especially young players, are getting exposure to college programs early on in New Jersey. Sebok is part of the group, having recently attended Columbia’s elite camp in NY.
Word travels from college to college, and while her freshman year at STA saw limited playing time off the bench, she’s got an upper hand in AAU ball playing up for New Heights NYC’s 16U team. The Trojans have holes to fill with two impact seniors having graduated this spring, opening up more opportunities for Sebok to get impactful playing time as a sophomore.
Precious Wheeler Precious Wheeler 6'3" | PF Franklin | 2025 NJ – Franklin (2025) offered by Monmouth, Coppin State
Wheeler has been a fun player to watch this summer and she’s been more than deserving of the offers she’s gotten, adding two more to the list in Monmouth and Coppin State.
Wheeler heated up toward the end of her sophomore season, recording nine double-digit point efforts in her last 11 games of the season, including strong performances against Red Bank Catholic, Rutgers Prep and Watchung Hills to name a few. Already grinding it out in AAU ball, she’s going to be a player to watch come next season.
Madison Miller Madison Miller 6'3" | C Morris Catholic | 2024 State NJ – Morris Catholic (2024) offered by Seton Hall, Fairleigh Dickinson
We can now add two more Division I offers to Madison Miller Madison Miller 6'3" | C Morris Catholic | 2024 State NJ ‘s resume as the 2024 forward saw both Seton Hall and Fairleigh Dickinson pass offers her way over the past few days.
Miller is a physical specimen at 6-3 and she has done a great job growing into her frame to be a ferocious defender and even better post player offensively. There’s not much to her game, but simplicity is the name of the game down on the post, making her a must-watch talent come the fall/winter.
Kennedy Brown Kennedy Brown 5'8" | CG Morris Catholic | 2026 State NJ – Morris Catholic (2026) offered by Coppin State
When it rains, it pours for New Jersey offers as yet another player in Brown got offered by Coppin State this week, with hers happening on Tuesday.
Brown is a new addition to Morris Catholic, a sophomore transfer into the program, and she’s going to bolster the Crusaders in the backcourt. At 5-8, she’s plenty tall enough to score from the wing or from the perimeter, but also barrel into the lane and fight her way to the rim. That combination of finesse and physicality will play against a host of nationally ranked opposition.
