Downey set career highs in nearly every category during her outstanding senior season. She averaged 23 points per game this winter, scoring 671 points. She also set the Absegami program record for career points, finishing with 2,092. If that’s not impressive enough, she also reached 500 career rebounds and steals, and fell eight short of 500 career assists. How many players have we seen do that? Not many.

In the playoffs, she scored 30 points in the opening round win over Toms River South, 22 in a feat over Hammonton in the quarterfinal, and 15 in the semifinal loss to Moorestown. Downey is committed to play basketball at Fairleigh Dickinson University.

The 5’7″ point guard is averaging a staggering 23.2 points per game this winter. An all-around player, she also recently reached 500 career rebounds and steals.

Absegami owns a 19-7 record and is the third seed in the upcoming NJSIAA South Jersey Group 3 playoffs as of February 17.

We’re five weeks into the season, and Downey has put herself squarely in the discussion for South Jersey player of the year. She’s averaging 24 PPG with 384 total points through 16 games. The 5’7″ point guard is nearing 300 career threes, and she recently set the Cape-Atlantic League all-time record for three-pointers.

The senior is just 195 points away from reaching the 2,000 points milestone. At this rate, that will take her around eight games. She’ll undoubtedly go down as one of the best to ever suit up for the Braves and in the history of the CAL.
