PGH Carolinas Freshman Showcase Preview – Part 1

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As of this writing, the Carolinas are hunkering down as they brace for the after effects of Hurricane Idalia. Once the storm has passed – and hopefully everyone in the storm's path will be okay – the attention of many in both Carolinas will turn to Concord, NC.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>That is where this year's Prep Girls Hoops Carolinas Freshman Showcase will emanate from. The site will be Cox Mill HS – home of the 4A Chargers. Cox Mill has established itself on both the girls and boys sides of the ledger as one of the premier hoops programs in the Hoop State.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Freshman up-and-comers from both North and South Carolina will make the trek to Cox Mill to take part. In a playoff game that she participated in for the Bobcats, she dropped 29 points and grabbed 12 rebounds against Northpoint Christian Academy. A big reason why she is a double-double threat on a consistent basis is because she uses every bit of her 5-foot-10 stature to her fullest advantage. Davis stands at 5-foot-5 and the young guard has plenty of speed and quickness to her game. That enables her to get out in transition and deliver strong finishes at the basket. Godfrey established herself firmly as part of the future of the Wildcats program and she is looking for even more in 2023-24. She places plenty of emphasis on taking care of the ball and limiting turnovers while also having a knack for draining her 3-point attempts. Her defense can also lead to steals and additional Lexington possessions. Orr's 5A Bearcats finished with a mark of 20-7 in 2023-24 and an 8-2 mark in its region.
