Godfrey was one of several high-profile transfers this past season into 5A Division 1 River Bluff. With the high school season in the rear-view mirror, she is now wearing a Palmetto 76ers/A’ja Wilson Elite uniform and played in her first event of the travel season which was in North Augusta. This past season with the Gators, she helped River Bluff to a season where it hosted a tournament game for the first time since 2020. She averaged 10.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.6 steals per contest. The next event for Godfrey will be the Phenom Lady Rumble the weekend of April 11-12 in Rock Hill.

A tough nosed point guard that makes everyone around her better. Evie sees the floor really well and is strong enough to deliver long ball passes in the open court. In the half court setting she creates well off the dribble and is able to set her teammates up or create her own shot. Her strength getting to the rim is one of her biggest attributes. She can also knock threes down when her feet or set in the half court or off the bounce.

Speaking of Evies, another one also put herself in the record books. That Evie is Godfrey who is concluding her first season at 5A Division 1 River Bluff. She recently approached the 1,000-point plateau for her noteworthy career. Godfrey was one of two Gators to earn All-Region honors. She reached her feat on Feb. 10 when River Bluff matched up against Dutch Fork. With the regular season in the books, Godfrey now looks ahead to the 5A Division 1 tournament. The first round of said playoffs will see River Bluff hosting a first-round playoff matchup for the first time in six years. The Gators’ opening round foe will be the Patriots of Fort Dorchester.

A true competitor every time she steps on the court. Evie always brings everything she has on both sides of the court. She is a gritty defender and will get down and do the dirty work. Offensively, she is tough and well-rounded with her ability to score. She already has a few college offers and will receive more as time goes by.

This kid is as hardnosed as they come out on the basketball court. Do not let her deceive you! Evie can do a little bit of everything and do it well. She is a three-level scorer, but it is hard to tell between her crafty moves getting to the basket and finishing with defenders hanging on her and her DEEP 3-point range which one she is better at. In my eyes that is a great problem to have. Her basketball IQ is also one of her biggest strengths.

We conclude this week’s recruiting report with a trio of offers that were secured by standouts at 5A Division 1 River Bluff, now with Jordan Leath as coach. Godfrey’s latest offer would be courtesy of Denmark Tech. She was one of the many juniors that was on hand last week at the Rock Hill Sports and Events Center for the Prep Girls Hoops Carolinas Expo. A Palmetto 76ers/A’ja Wilson Elite product, Godfrey joins a Gators team that had such a successful offseason it likely solidifies River Bluff as contenders in the 5A Division 1 ranks. Godfrey also landed an offer from Piedmont University prior to the conclusion of August.

The Gators of 5A Division 1 River Bluff certainly put themselves in the conversation of teams that won the offseason with the addition of this multi-skilled veteran guard. With Godfrey in River Bluff’s dark green and Vegas gold hues, the Gators could be favorites to win the coming season. Godfrey can get from one end of the floor to the other with plenty of speed and quickness. The ball handling skills she possesses can throw plenty of defenders for a loop. A primary element to her game is how she attacks the rim but she has no problems attempting 3-pointers as well.

Among the more well-represented teams at the inaugural Passion Driven Showcase was 5A Division 1 River Bluff – its coach Jordan Leath was even one of the coaches for the four teams that players were sorted into. Godfrey was added to the Gators during the offseason and her ability to play point, shoot the 3-pointer, set up behind the arc on the wing and get in position to haul in rebounds will be reasons why River Bluff is poised to improve from its eight-win campaign last season. Her most recent offer was courtesy of Newberry and she averaged 18.7 points, 5.8 steals, 4.4 assists and 3.9 rebounds per contest. Godfrey, part of Team Goodson, also was one of the All-Tournament recipients for this past weekend.
