It has been a great year for the Prep Girls Hoops Class of 2026 with a ton of talented Division 1 prospects at the top of the rankings and, perhaps, the most depth we've seen in recent classes. It has been a year since we first sorted this year's incoming sophomores. There were 50 players listed back then. With the addition of 27 new prospects this week, the PGH Class of 2026 rankings now stand at 125.

Two previously-ranked prospects have been removed from the list after leaving AAU basketball and making it clear that they no longer intended to play in college. That makes room for 27 more players who are doing everything possible to showcase their skills and prove that they have what it takes to be successful after high school. We've added 11 outstate players from across Minnesota including Pipestone, Blue Earth, Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart, New York Mills, Fergus Falls, New London-Spicer and Norwood-Young America. There is strong representation from the East Metro, too, with two players from Eagan, and one each from Woodbury, East Ridge, Eastview and Roseville.

Here's a look at the Top 5 newcomers, all ranked in the Top 100, as well as the rest of the current additions. Congratulations everyone now rated among the Top 125 sophomores in Minnesota. It is a great accomplishment.

TOP 5 NEWCOMERS

#54 [player_tooltip player_id='721209' first='Ayla' last='Caskey'] – guard, New London-Spicer

It's not easy for players at New London-Spicer to stand out as individuals. One of the most successful programs in the state for 50 years, NLS is built on an old-school, team-only philosophy that has made Mike Dreier the winningest coach in history. Although things are slowly changing, players have not traditionally participated in AAU or individual events. When Ayla showed up at [program_tooltip program_id='712687' first='Minnesota' last='Fury'] tryouts in August, however, she was impossible to miss. The athletic guard is super-fast, with really quick feet, great movement and a natural feel for the game. She has good handles and can really shoot it. We watched the 5'6 guard at other auditions, too, and ultimately Ayla accepted a spot with [program_tooltip program_id='712722' first='North' last='Tartan'] Elite for 2024. She'll also be at the Prep Girls Hoops Top 250 Expo next Saturday, Oct. 7. Do yourself a favor and take a look at the highest-rated newcomer on our list. She's going to be an impact performer.

#68 [player_tooltip player_id='502569' first='Clara' last='Goodman'] – guard, Eastview

Clara had an incredible summer in AAU basketball. Every time we turned around the guard was lighting it up on behalf of [program_tooltip program_id='712722' first='North' last='Tartan'] Elite. Not surprisingly, a lot of her production was coming from beyond the three-point line where Clara showed off her smooth mechanics, quick release and high arcing trajectory. When Goodman gets hot from beyond the perimeter, she can render defenders practically helpless. Goodman also demonstrated that she can put the ball on the hardwood and take it to the basket one-on-one. Clara's game expanded a ton this year on both sides of the ball. The diminutive guard earned honorable mention status at the AAU State Tournament and continued that high level of play all summer.

#75 [player_tooltip player_id='498662' first='Jadyn' last='Kor'] – guard, Pipestone

We didn't see a lot of Kor this year. We were expecting her to suit up for the Minnesota Rise but in the end she elected to play in South Dakota again. We can't really blame her given that Pipestone is 50 miles from Sioux Falls and nearly 200 from the Twin Cities. Regardless, when we did see her live Kor lived up to the standards she set at last year's PGH Minnesota Freshman Showcase and at Rise Fall League in 2022. The 5'9 combo guard is a quality athlete with good length. She moves around the floor with ease, with long strides and an explosive first step. That type of agility and quickness is a huge advantage, of course, and Kor uses it well on both sides of the ball. And Jadyn is an excellent defender, too. Kor isn't flashy but she is very effective. Let's hope we get more opportunities to see that again first-hand in the future.

#93 [player_tooltip player_id='773405' first='Hailey' last='DeReu'] – forward, Forest Lake

Length is a weapon, which is why college basketball coaches pay so much attention to prospects with a noteworthy wingspan. At 5'10, Hailey's got that desirable attribute. She is also athletic and mobile, which enables her to get up and down the floor at pace. She runs well in transition, isn't shy about attacking the basket with high frequency, and she knows what to do with the ball upon arriving at the intended destination. DeReu does a nice job of playing through contact to finish or draw a foul. All of that is important, of course, but it is DeReu's defense that might be her ticket to the next level. She defends with intensity, has a physical presence, and knows how to make life difficult for opponents. This should be her breakout season at the varsity level.

#98 [player_tooltip player_id='773406' first='Lily' last='Schoenecker'] – guard, New Prague

Out of sight, out of mind. When Lily tore her ACL playing soccer in the fall of her 8th grade year, it took a full year and a half for her to get back to full action. She returned to basketball as a freshman in time to make a few cameo appearances for New Prague last spring. This summer with [program_tooltip program_id='712722' first='North' last='Tartan'] Elite, Lily proved that she is a prospect to be reckoned with for the next level. Schoenecker is fearless with the basketball in her hands. She is an elite shooter with NBA range and the confidence to let it fly whenever the opportunity presents itself. When the game is on the line, Lily wants the ball and craves the opportunity to take and make the big shot. Despite her size (5'6), Lily finishes well in traffic. She's quick and athletic and headed for great stuff this winter and beyond.
