It’s a great way to get some exposure for your athletes and getting in touch shows that you truly care about your players and their future. Here is our first team preview, the Bishop McGuinness Fighting Irish.
Head Coach: Jade Carter
2022-23 Record: 10-16 (Made it to Regionals)
Starters Lost: Kate Fletcher (6.7 ppg) – Austin College
Madison Moore (10.1 ppg) – Redlands CC
Returning Players:
Clare was the starting point guard for an Irish team that was battle tested and able to surprise a few teams in the playoffs last season. She is a team leader on and off the court and will definitely be called upon to take the reins again this year. She is a confident ballhandler who moves fast, but smooth. She can drain the three, but is also a great facilitator. Last season she was a top-3 scorer on this Irish squad, while also leading the team in rebounds and assists. She currently holds an offer from Oklahoma Christian.
Another senior who is set to have a big-time season for the Irish is Victoria Ososanya Victoria Ososanya 5’9″ | SF Bishop McGuinness | 2024 State OK . She is a tall and long wing that averaged double-digits last season. This season, Coach Carter will be looking to her to really take the lead when it comes to scoring for Bishop McGuinness, so expect even more than her 12 ppg from 2022-23. She plays all five positions and does it with ease as she is able to handle the ball out on the perimeter, as well as battle hard down on the block. This senior year should be a big one for “Oso.”
Coach Carter says that Tabytha has “the highest motor in the state” and I believe it. I’ve seen her on the court with her grassroots squad and I can vouch for the fact that she would run through a wall (or opponent) to win a game for her team. She is a “glue girl” who is going to do all of the little things that win basketball games. Tabytha is going to fight hard, dive for loose balls, and then hit the clutch free throws to seal the victory. She is an integral part of this team and probably needs to be part of someone’s college squad after this season!
Abbie Elder
Abbie Elder
One of two freshmen who will be joining the Varsity squad and seeing big minutes with the Irish this season, Abbie is a very good prospect to keep an eye on. She is a good ball-handler and is very quick, with and without the ball. She is a high-IQ player who does a lot of the little things that will make a coach happy. The biggest of those is probably her ability to fill it up from long range. She is a tremendous shooter and could be relied upon to hit some big-time shots in big-time situations. Though, she also shows the ability to finish strong at the rim with either hand. She’s not afraid of the contact. She’s gonna keep the defenders guessing, for sure. Keep an eye on Abbie Elder. She’s going to be a good one!
With things like the Super-16 Game, grassroots ball, and our PGH Showcases, it can feel like somebody like Mariah has been around for a long time by the time they finally step foot on the floor as a freshman. It means we scouts are very familiar with how great she is. It also means that she, despite her young age, has played a lot of basketball and comes into the Bishop McGuinness line-up battle-tested and ready to go. As Coach Carter says, Mariah is “relentless at attacking the basket.” She is also a vicious defender as I mentioned in an earlier piece. I really am glad to not have to try to bring the ball up court against her. Not only that, but she will guard any position… and more than likely lock them down. Mariah Conally Mariah Conally 5’10” | CG Bishop McGuinness Catholic | 2027 OK is a BIG TIME prospect and a BIG TIME addition for this Fighting Irish squad.
Highlights
Other Contributors:
Coffey Collier Coffey Collier 5'7" | SF Bishop McGuinness | 2025 State OK | 5-8 | SF | 2025 – Coach Carter calls Coffey their “primary defender” and raves about her defense. She has very good height and a great wingspan and is dedicated on the defensive end.
Kaylee Perkins | 5-5 | CG | 2026 – Kaylee played good minutes last year as a freshman and will undoubtedly be a big part of what the Irish are doing out there this season. She is “fearless when attacking the rim.”
Hadyn Houser | 6-1 | F | 2025 – Hadyn moves very well for a six-footer and depending on how things go in the preseason, could very well end up becoming a starter for this squad.
Elliott Jones | 5-7 | SG | 2026 – Elliott has the handles and ability to be counted on to bring the ball up court. She can also hit the spot-up three and will be an integral part of this BMHS team!
