Week 3 around the state is off to a great start. The holiday turkey is gone, now it's time to lace'em back up and get back to the grind. One thing is for sure, the cold weather has kicked in, but the girls around the state are keeping the heat blazing. Teams are getting their feet wet and are slowly coming into their own. Some, faster than others, but at the same time, teams are starting to separate themselves and carve out an identity.

Right now, we have some young ladies around who are stepping up and setting the tone for their ball clubs. You can call it natural born leaders, competitors, and a sense of urgency. Whatever it is, these young ladies are coming out the gates blazing hot. Here are a few names of some prospects around the state who are doing their thing early in the season.

AC Shirley (5'10/So./G/ MTCS)- The Rosie The Riveter for MTCS, she can do all things. This young leader is the heartbeat for her ball club. Hungry competitor who won't be denied when it comes to the game. She's going to score it, you better believe that. How much? That's up to the opponent to try and stop. AC brings every time she steps onto the floor. Sinking it from deep or attacking the paint, her ability to score is off the charts. Once her team and her get in sync , it's going to be a pretty special ride come tournament time. Solid prospect who is on an upwards trajectory.

[player_tooltip player_id='409017' first='Ella' last='Ryan'] (5'10/Jr./G/ Brentwood)- Geez. One of the most on fire prospects around the state right now. If I am a college coach, I have to have this young lady on my radar. She's hot, been hot, and brings so much to the table. She's a creator, phenomenal in the 1v1 game or in the pick n'roll game. She can score it, pass it, and finish it. Doesn't matter where on the floor she is, she's comfortable. What I love about her game is that she isn't a one trick pony. She's going to compete and contribute in all phases of the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='290712' first='Annie' last='Buisson'] (5'7/Sr./G/Brentwood Academy)- Sassy ball player who is a fierce competitor. A multi-level scoring threat, she's money when she is in a rhythm. The kid is a tough competitor who has taken a leadership role for her ball club. Offensively, she can catch n'shoot, or put the ball on floor to pull up or finish at the rim. Defensively, she has a good feel for things, either defending on ball or playing in gaps, looking to get a turnover. She wears her heart on her sleeve and is as passionate about the game as anyone. Solid prospect who would be a great get for a collegiate program.

[player_tooltip player_id='290966' first='Shamari' last='Hamlett'] (5'6/Sr./ G/ Bartlett)- Another solid Bartlett guard who is a tough competitor. Always getting hands on the ball, she's great in the transition game. She can get to the rim with ease, score from anywhere in the field, and my favorite, defend like crazy. This kid is a solid contributor and plays her role well for the Lady Panthers ball club.

[player_tooltip player_id='408997' first='Shelby' last='Gray'] (5'7/G/Jr./ Trezevant)- She's a bucket. That's really all I need to type. She has scored double digits in multiple games thus far. Getting to the rim, draining it from deep, the kid plays with a motor and that motor creates chaos on the defensive end. Great two-way player who competes her tail off and brings a “go-get em” attitude to the table every single night. Hungry ball player who is poised to have a breakout year.

[player_tooltip player_id='631091' first='Amaya' last='Redd'] (5'11/Jr./F/ Knoxville Catholic)- Toot toot! Opponent beware. This kid is crazy good with the ball in her hand. A downhill threat who is going to get to the rim by any means necessary. Amaya brings a solid game to the table, where she scores from the field, contributes on the boards, and defends. Her game has enabled others to get free open looks and capitalize off of them. She is a selfless player whose stock arrow is pointing up.
