Stars in the Final Non-League Games of the Season

McMullen is one of the leaders for the Warriors, both in scoring and in general. In three of their last games of 2023 (all victories), McMullen had a game-high 16 points against Salem Academy, 13 points against East Linn Christian, and 13 points of the Crusader Classic championship bout with Nyssa. She is a natural shooter who is a constant threat to put up big numbers from outside, she can push the ball and run the offense, and she is also a crafty defender with quick hands, great anticipation, and impressive athleticism. If McMullen continues her level of play, Amity will likely be contending for a state championship in a couple of months. Nguyen is a natural point guard who loves to run the offense and find her teammates opportunities to score. Even so, Nguyen often scores in double-digits for her team in addition to being an incredible rebounder for her size, resulting in her putting up valuable stats in points, rebounds, and assists. The Wolverines are coming off of two huge wins in the POA Holiday Classic, including a win over Benson in which Nguyen had 10 points and 13 rebounds, and a win over Mater Dei (CA) that saw her put up 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists. Paterson has been a starter and major factor in South Salem's success for years now, which will continue in 2024. In addition to her shooting ability, Paterson has impressive handles and is lightning quick with the rock in her hands, whether she is pushing in transition or attacking the perimeter. One of her greatest assets is her hustle play: it is obvious that Paterson is giving her all for her team at all times on the court. She had 14 points and 3 assists in the Saxons' close win over Roseburg a couple weeks ago. Crook County lost to the Bulldogs earlier in their second game of the year by only 8 points, and with each game, they have continued to improve meaning that Saturday could be very interesting. One of the Cowgirls' rising stars is freshman point guard [player_tooltip player_id='832542' first='Anna' last='Bales']. In their massive 57-28 win over Mazama, Bales had 9 points, 7 assists, and a new school record 12 steals, which she promptly broke again in the following game against Junction City during which she had 18 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, and an incredible 21 steals. She also was named to the all-tournament team at the Clark Cochrane Christmas Classic for her incredible play there up in Alaska. At 5'10, the long, lanky wing is an incredible athlete, which is not surprising considering she's the daughter of former NBA player Martell Webster, and she is already showing great confidence as a key player for the Hawks. She has helped lead them to an undefeated 8-0 start and to the #2 spot in the state in 6A. Webster has scored in double-digits in many of their games so far this season, including 13 points against Lakeridge, 12 points against Caldera, and 10 points against Ida B. Wells, but perhaps most impressive about Webster is the lack of weaknesses in her game as a freshman. She has a beautiful shot, she makes electric plays on the defensive end, she finds her teammates well, she rebounds hard, and does the little things.
