I think it’s fair to say that Maggie McChesney is going to return as the big dawg for Glenwood this Winter at the CG position. McChensey has put up some eye-opening stat lines over the past years and she is looking to finish things off with a big bang before she closes off her high school career. I expect much of the same out of McChesney this Winter to be honest. She will be their workhorse once again and that’s going to lead to some meaningful wins and impactful performances. This group will go as far as McChesney will take them come playoff time. She will need some help but everything will flow through her on both ends and that’s nothing new for those who have been paying attention.

McChesney has always been a force at the Varsity level during school ball but this AAU season she did a great job of representing for her Western Iowa Express program. McChesney was one of this group’s “big three” per se, and she showed up each weekend as someone that could make plays when things were coming down to the wire as a CG. Offensively, she was comfortable attacking from all offensive levels, even dishing out an assist or two whenever the defense would begin to overplay her on the drive. Defensively, she is one of the better defenders that we have seen at the 17U level this Spring/Summer season. I expect MM to return to Glenwood this Winter and to average meaningful numbers like in year’s past. She has averaged right around 20 PPG, 8 RGP, 2 APG, and 4 SPG throughout her career thus far and I don’t expect that too slow down for her last go around as a Senior in a few months.

To start off her Sophomore season, Maggie McChesney Maggie McChesney 5'7" | CG Glenwood | 2027 IA has returned to Glenwood High School following a successful Freshman campaign and she is in a position to put together her best season on the court to date. For Glenwood, McChesney does a little bit of everything around the perimeter around the outside. She can produce as the leader running the PG, she can move off of the ball and create off the catch with a jumper or with an easy take toward the rim off the dribble, and she does a good job of moving off of the ball and screening or creating space for other action to unfold around her. We will need to see more out of McChesney throughout the rest of this season to make sure she continues to pass the eye test but as of right now, this is definitely a name to know out of the 2027 Class.

I have a feeling that we are going to hear a lot about Maggie McChesney Maggie McChesney 5'7" | CG Glenwood | 2027 IA this Winter of Glenwood High School. McChesney led her Glenwood Rams High School program in scoring last Winter as Freshman with just under 12 PPG, making over 35% from the field and 32% from behind the three point line. This is a classic situation where I think McChesney will lead her team in scoring the rest of her career but others will take the leads in different categories such as APG, RPG, and SPG. It’s not that McChesney can’t do it, it just won’t be her job in the grand scheme of things. She is going to be asked to knock down shots at a high rate for years to come and I’m sure she is okay with that.
