About Janna

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I have been described as long, versatile, and cerebral. I pride myself on basketball IQ and being able to guard any position. I am a capable three-level scorer but especially love playmaking for my teammates. I was named All-Ohio as a freshman (Special Mention) and again as a sophomore (Honorable Mention) and have averaged nearly 13 ppg in my high school career so far (5.7 reb, 3.1 ast, 3.0 stl).

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Sportsmanship is important to me, so I try to be kind on and off the floor. I am also competitive and give my all when I play.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I enjoy youth group and Young Life and help lead music at my church. I have straight As and I was named to our school’s honor roll. I was named All-Conference in soccer (midfielder) in each of the past two seasons.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Having knee surgery in sixth grade and coming back from a six-month recovery. I was able to learn to trust my knee again and came back to help my middle school team go undefeated in both 7th and 8th grades.

What type of college are you looking for?

I want to play college basketball at the highest level possible. My parents both attended a Christian university, and I am interested in that possibility also.

Her points will come, but the skill around her will be solid and she will be a good leader and able to utilize her best game. Good floor leader, really like her court vision and can distribute for a better shot. Extremely hard worker and able to make her team better. Ready for a big year from Janna!

One of the top sophomores in Ohio, Janna is active with the ball, can control the offense with her solid handles. Good defender with active hands. Fundamentally sound and can pick and pop well. As a sophomore I look for a lot of sharper and crisper things from her game.

Janna had a great freshman season, quickly making herself known to opponents in the conference and around Southwest Ohio. She has a nice euro step to finish around her defender. Uses her length to navigate around the basket to finish different ways.

She makes her debut in the latest update at #25 and I expect her game to continue to grow from there. No question she is skilled and a good leader, able to move well without the ball and also can facilitate the offense. She is long and can protect the rim, or defend on the wing. Good handles and showed a lot in the scrimmage I saw her in a couple of weeks ago.

Janna is a very fundamentally sound player who showed me that she can cut hard to the rim and can score. Good catch and shoot player. Her basketball IQ is off the chart for a freshman. High ceiling!
