O’Neill High School opened their season with a convincing win while putting up several points (81) in the outing. Their leader in scoring production being Junior SG – Hannah HilkerHannahHilker

. Hilker is the player for this team that is going to get the majority of the shots this Winter from the looks of it. She finished things up while scoring 31 in this one specifically, demonstrating that she can make a bucket in any instance from any offensive level. Hilker also was rebounding and defending at a steady rate as well. O’Neill is going to be a team that wins a lot of games this Winter and whenever they do that, I’m sure Hilker will have a hand in it.

once again. Hiker is a SG, that takes a good volume of her team’s shot attempts each contest. This seems to be the job of Hilker within her team’s system this year. On the Winter she is averaging a team leading 16.7 PPG, while the next highest sits at 5.5 PPG, just giving you an idea of what the situations looks like. In the right situations and with the correct path, this is a group that could surprise some team’s these next couple of weeks. They just need to stay mentally locked in moving forward.
Sometimes when a player gets to the high school level, they need to get a few games underneath their belt before they feel confident in their abilities. That was the case for Hannah HilkerHannahHilker

of O’Neil High School these past few months. Hilker started off the year and saw the floor at both the Varsity and JV levels. As the season went on and Post-season quickly approached, she started to really stick to the Varsity floor more than anything else and that was because of her shooting ability from deep. Hilker can do a handful of positive things for her team but she loves to let it go from behind the three point line either in transition or against an opposing team’s zone in the half-court. On a number of occasions this Winter, she displayed that she can move all around the arc, knocking down shots at a high rate. She ended the season averaging over 12 PPG on 37% shooting from the field. Like anyone else in this position, she is going to have to continue to expand her game if she wants to keep producing. Something that is tough to accomplish but definitely do-able at this point.
