Oommen isn’t even in high school yet, but already proves to be a valuable glue piece and emerging playmaker. She impacts the game with the little things: keeping the ball moving with reversals, maintaining proper spacing, and delivering timely entry passes. Then don’t forget, there’s her ability to knock down the perimeter shot, and she consistently makes things happen whenever she’s on the floor.

Oomen is a fierce competitor on both ends, and as she falls into that #sizedontmatter group, seeing her rise to the occasion and apply tough “on the ball” defense was nice, yet so was her using her quick hands to pick some pockets. She also handled the ball under pressure and made the right decisions.

Oommen gave me a whole lot to write about last season at the Southwest Showcase see evaluation here so I was pleased to see her “on the court” progression in so many aspects of her game. She is stronger, and that is a plus for her off the dribble and after the lick, but seeing her using her athleticism on both ends and applying “on the ball” pressure in the set as well as baseline to baseline was also nice. She’s also creating her shot and seeing the floor better

Oommen left a lasting first impression, but let me start with the fact that she falls into that #sizedontmatter group, and when you can play, IT DOESN’T MATTER, she can definitely play. I’m also going to give her another hashtag #THROWBACK after seeing her diving on the floor for loose balls. Her “on the ball” pressure was smothering at times, but seeing her keep the same intensity throughout the day JUST DID IT for me. Her first step left defenders standing as she scored off the dribble, nice body control after contact, and her court vision in the set, as well as in transition, also stood out. She did a good job creating her shot and dropping it, “stop and pop” was also nice
