I have already talked about eight names from the 6A classification of Arkansas high school basketball, but let us take a deeper dive into this classification. This article covers guards in 6A that are set to graduate in 2025, with the focus on hoopers that are well under the radar. I will release subsequent evaluations for each classification, graduating class, and position group (guards, forwards, and bigs).

[player_tooltip player_id='875508' first='Hazley' last='Grotjohn'] of Fort Smith Northside is ranked #20 in the state according to AR Prep Girls Hoops, but she--for whatever reason--has very few offers. According to her social media, NAIA Mission University is the most recent school to extend an offer to her. Grotjohn has the skillset to contribute at a higher level of collegiate basketball, and she has the potential to blossom into a star.

Grotjohn's offense is probably her strongest all-around skill. She drives hard with her off-hand and can finish over taller defenders. She has a strong 3-point shot, but she seems to prefer shooting from well behind the arch. Those few extra feet of distance do not hamper her shot, and defenses should make it a priority to tightly guard her as soon as she steps across the half-court line. Plus, she seems to know where her teammates are at all times, and delivers some nice passes.

Grotjohn's defense is also superb, especially when causing turnovers. She collects steals like Thanos collects infinity stones. She will steal it from you as soon as you come down with a rebound. She will steal it from you when you are being doubled. She will steal it from you off your dribble. And she will steal it off your pass. As a part of the Arkansas Mavs in the Adidas Championships recently, it seemed as if Grotjohn stole the ball 6 or 7 times. I think I counted 5 from one game!

[player_tooltip player_id='875508' first='Hazley' last='Grotjohn'] is a legitimate two-way threat. Her long-range shooting stretches the floor out for the rest of her team, and her suffocating on-ball defense is enough to drive opposing coaches up the wall. Grotjohn is highly accomplished as a basketball player when you add the 1,000-point milestone she achieved this past season. Now she needs colleges to come calling.

SWISH! That is all you can hear when [player_tooltip player_id='465500' first='Adriana' last='Hernandez'] launches from deep. Hernandez is a stellar 3-point markswoman who is well under the radar. She is one of Springdale's best weapons on offense and she could have a huge senior season if she keeps on shooting.

Of course, Hernandez is a great 3-point shooter, but her shots are coming from well beyond the arch. If the defense does not have a hand in her face, she will take the 3 and make the 3 in their face. Her quick trigger and ability to make threes in the corner, on the wing, and from the top of the key make her a dangerous weapon, especially when using her off the ball. Hernandez is also a solid ball-handler, and her deep-shooting abilities stretch the defense out in her team's favor. With the defense so tight, she can also cut to the basket, and she has done well in that scenario.

[player_tooltip player_id='465500' first='Adriana' last='Hernandez'] might just be the best shooter in all of 6A...maybe in all of Arkansas. If colleges need shooters, then Hernandez should be the first person they reach out to.

[player_tooltip player_id='1056369' first='Cambrie' last='Phillips'] is already committed to Pittsburg State University after receiving a number of strong Division II offers. However, Phillips has the potential to raise her stock, and she is just too good not to mention on a list of 2025 guards.

The first thing that jumps out when evaluating [player_tooltip player_id='1056369' first='Cambrie' last='Phillips'] is her ability to invite contact and muscle through it. Phillips finishes her drives with strength and athleticism that you do not see in a lot of other guards. Phillips is also a solid 3-point and mid-range shooter. She has a nice form and converts open and contested shots from anywhere on the court. Phillips also uses her shot fakes well, and operates along the baseline with ease.

Again, [player_tooltip player_id='1056369' first='Cambrie' last='Phillips'] is already committed, but she has the potential to become a star, and it will be very interesting to see how she and Bentonville High School do in 6A this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1056371' first='Mekaila' last='Robinson'] is one of the Lady Maverick's better two-way players. However, she does not appear to be on anyone's radar. With a strong senior season, she can very well be on the collegiate map, and she has all of the skills to do so.

Robinson is at her best on the defensive end, particularly when breaking up passing lanes. She has active hands and seems to know exactly where passes from the other team are going. Robinson is also very long for her position. I do not know what her wingspan is, but it has to be much longer than other players in her class and position group. Robinson can block jump-shots well, which is a rare skill to have in a guard.

On offense, Robinson is a solid cutter, driver, and 3-point shooter. She has a quick release off the catch and on the interior, she keeps a hold of her pivot foot very well. She is also an efficient free throw shooter with a natural form.

If [player_tooltip player_id='1056371' first='Mekaila' last='Robinson'] has more on-ball usage, she is in store for a very good senior season. Collegiate programs might as well start reaching out to this great 3&D talent while she is still in the underrated category.

As far as I can tell, Owens has been active at college camps but is still looking for college offers. With an expected strong senior season, she will be hearing from them soon.

Owens might be the best perimeter defender on this Springdale roster. Her activity is consistent every possession and she flies around the court picking up steals. Her defensive activity is the strongest part of her game, but she is a solid offensive player as well. She shoots the ball very well, especially from mid-range. Her 3-point shot is also solid, and her jumpers are hard to block at her height of 5'9".

Rogers Heritage struggled last season, only winning one conference game. Despite that, [player_tooltip player_id='1056379' first='Sophie' last='Sarratt'] has been a huge bright spot, as she is a 2-time 6A West All-Conference performer. Sarratt is well under the radar, but she has previously been offered by NAIA Lyon College. Over the summer with J & E Elite, Sarratt has been able to show off her skills, and if she puts up a third all-conference season as a senior, do not expect her to be underrated for long.

Sarratt is one of the most active cutters out there. She cuts well off the inbound and through traffic. She also leaks out very well on the fastbreak, providing her team with easy buckets. She is also very active on the defensive side of the ball, with disrupting passing lanes being her specialty. Perhaps the most noteworthy part of Sarratt's game, though, is her shooting.

Sarratt is an excellent 3-point shooter, but her shooting form is slightly unorthodox. She tends to launch her shots directly from the hip, which still gives the shot good arch. Despite the low release, the defense still cannot seem to block it, and that is thanks to the quickness on her shot.

[player_tooltip player_id='1056379' first='Sophie' last='Sarratt'] is a star for Rogers Heritage, and regardless of the game's results, she will play well. Look for Sarratt to be amongst the top shooting guards in the 6A West in 2024/25.

[player_tooltip player_id='1196099' first='Skylar' last='Percy'] is an interesting prospect. She is not your prototypical point guard, but she has the playmaking abilities to be one of the top floor generals in all of 6A. And as far as being a prospect goes, Percy is the definition of underrated, but she has all of the skills to be a solid point guard for any college team.

If Percy does not have the ball in her hands, she is excellent at cutting and finding room to get an open shot off. She can shoot the 3 well in the corner and is crafty enough to get to the basket, whether that is off a hard jab step or a euro step. Her shot also has a very high arch, and that is extremely useful getting the shot over taller defenders. On the other side of the ball, she is very skilled at swiping the rock away from the opposition and starting the fastbreak.

As I mentioned earlier, Percy is a solid playmaker, but she is better at one small thing than most other high school guards: the overhead pass. The chest and bounce pass are the first two passes basketball players learn to master, but the overhead pass is a slightly harder fundamental pass that most players are not moderately good at until around college. Percy is able to make this pass cross-court and directly into her teammates' shooting pockets.

[player_tooltip player_id='1196099' first='Skylar' last='Percy'] is a solid player, and with an improved senior season, she has the potential to be one of the most well-rounded hoopers in the 6A Central.

[player_tooltip player_id='870000' first='Whitney' last='Brown'] is criminally underrated. She has already picked up a number of offers from schools such as Truman State, Ouachita Baptist, Three Rivers College, and Hutchinson Community College, but her abilities as a point guard should be enough to put her on the radar of bigger collegiate programs.

Brown is exactly what every team needs in a point guard, and she has shown as much in the high school setting and during the AAU season. Brown knows how to facilitate effectively and she makes sure each one of her teammates gets involved. She also moves without the ball really well. Brown is that rare breed of point guard where she is just as impactful without the ball as she is with the ball. Her cutting abilities are tremendous and she is great at leaking out on the fastbreak at the earliest of opportunities. Brown is also a solid shooter, and though she can shoot from 3, I think she is better coming off a screen to shoot in the mid-range area. Her ability to finish strong inside is another one of her strengths.

Of course, as a point guard, Brown has to set up the offense and make plays for others. She does this at a very high level. Brown can be your true pass-first point guard, or she can be the quick scoring guard every team needs. Whatever a college coach would need in their point guard, they can find it with [player_tooltip player_id='870000' first='Whitney' last='Brown'].
