made an instant impact for the Grizzlies, even after being on the team for just one season. The senior guard ended her brief Northside career with a title victory and she was outstanding in that title matchup.
Grotjohn scored 14 points on 6/13 shooting while pulling down 7 rebounds and dishing 3 assists. She was attacking the basket with purpose, finishing efficiently inside, or finding an open teammate in the defense collapsed on her. She was also getting second-chance opportunities, snagging 2 boards on the offensive end.
On the other side of the ball, Grotjohn was an absolute pest, recording 5 steals. She was active in the passing lanes, poking balls free every chance she had. Once that ball was in her possession, she was racing down the court to pick up transition points.

has had a great first season in Fort Smith. Now, she looks to get her first 6A title with the Lady Grizzlies.
Grotjohn averaged 12.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.6 steals per game during the regular season. She put up 14 in the win over Bentonville last round, but her defense stood out the most.
Grotjohn is an aggressive perimeter defender who makes life miserable for the opposing ball-handlers. She will poke passes away and rip the ball from the opponent’s grasp.

is a formidable offensive threat who can score inside and out. When she is in a groove, the other team better watch out. The opposition needs to also realize that lazy passes and sloppy ball-handling are a “no-no” when she is on defense.

Hazley Grotjohn of Fort Smith Northside is ranked #20 in the state according to AR Prep Girls Hoops, but she–for whatever reason–has very few offers. According to her social media, NAIA Mission University is the most recent school to extend an offer to her. Grotjohn has the skillset to contribute at a higher level of collegiate basketball, and she has the potential to blossom into a star.
Grotjohn’s offense is probably her strongest all-around skill. She drives hard with her off-hand and can finish over taller defenders. She has a strong 3-point shot, but she seems to prefer shooting from well behind the arch. Those few extra feet of distance do not hamper her shot, and defenses should make it a priority to tightly guard her as soon as she steps across the half-court line. Plus, she seems to know where her teammates are at all times, and delivers some nice passes.
Grotjohn’s defense is also superb, especially when causing turnovers. She collects steals like Thanos collects infinity stones. She will steal it from you as soon as you come down with a rebound. She will steal it from you when you are being doubled. She will steal it from you off your dribble. And she will steal it off your pass. As a part of the Arkansas Mavs in the Adidas Championships recently, it seemed as if Grotjohn stole the ball 6 or 7 times. I think I counted 5 from one game!
Hazley Grotjohn is a legitimate two-way threat. Her long-range shooting stretches the floor out for the rest of her team, and her suffocating on-ball defense is enough to drive opposing coaches up the wall. Grotjohn is highly accomplished as a basketball player when you add the 1,000-point milestone she achieved this past season. Now she needs colleges to come calling.
