City Rankings: Rising Guards of Sacramento

Class of 2025 G Kacie Shinmoto from John F. Kennedy High School in Sacramento is a player to watch for this upcoming season. She's a three-level scorer from anywhere on the court while still making the effort to rebound and provide impactful perimeter defense. Consistently putting up 18 points a game, Kacie had a multitude of 20+ point games and an impressive 30 piece during the season. Kacie's quick first step frees her up for easy drives in the lane, where she finishes with ease. Her rebounding as a guard is exceptional averaging almost 5 a game. Impressively, her ability to pick someone's pocket and read the passing lane for steals makes her a complete basketball player.       Cosumnes Oaks Junior Caitlin Subejano is a reliable guard with ability to go off for a big game at any time. Her consistent performance on the court has help lead the Wolfpack in scoring and field goal percentage. Averaging 16.4 points a game while shooting 49% on 2's and 33% on 3-pointers, expect Caitlin to make another leap scoring the ball this year. Her potential to average 20 or more a game is achievable as the now Junior improved her scoring by 7 points from her freshman season and sophomore season.       Aleyah is a true point guard and floor general for the Falcons. Her execution and skill to facilitate the ball makes everyone around her better. Alyeah's floor IQ, knowing when to score and pass contributes to her team highs of 15.8 points a game while dishing out almost 6 dimes. Her understanding of spacing the floor and drawing double teams to find an open teammate is crucial to the Falcon's strong season. As well as leading her team, she is ranked #1 in the Capital Athletic League and Division 2 schools in assists. Aleyah Harmons high guard play would make her a perfect fit for any college program at the next level. Alyeah's ongoing success as a student-athlete is notable as she achieved a 4.14 GPA during her basketball career.     Combo guard Norret Lewis of the McClatchy Lions is a complete basketball player who fills every section in the box score. Lewis' is a sharpshooter that is not affected by players closing out due to her quick release and readiness. Shes efficient at spacing the floor as a perimeter threat which has led to her average of 13 points a game. Norret also distributes the ball well and understands play development to get the best result from her teammates. In the full court, she exhibits good pace with the basketball as well as running the floor on the fastbreak to get an open bucket. On the defensive end, her height and footwork give her an advantage to defend at multiple positions from guards to forwards making her extremely versatile. With contributions of one block and almost two steals a game, Lewis gets after it whenever she steps on the floor.     Alaziah "Lay" Akinmuerele is an outstanding player for FECHS. Her impact is felt on both sides of the ball as she leads her team in scoring, rebounding, and blocks. Her success continued throughout the season with 7 double doubles averaging 19 points and 9 boards. Lay plays the game with toughness and isn't afraid of contact in the paint. She's confident in finishing at the rim with either hand or getting 2nd chance points opportunities with offensive rebounds. In the open court Lay has a good handle on the ball and takes full advantage to score fastbreak points. Noticeably, after scoring the ball she runs the floor hard getting back on defense to make a stop. Her defensive awareness and scoring efforts were a huge component in the team's success.
