About Haley

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would say I'm a gritty, high-IQ guard known for her relentless defensive energy, leadership, and ability to impact the game without needing the ball. A true disruptor, I rack up steals, deflections, and rebounds while also knocking down spot-up jumpers and finishing through contact. I've been told I have a high motor and understand defensive angles and I approach every play with intensity.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I work hard at everything I do. My family has instilled in me that hard work will help me grow and I take it seriously. My teammates would describe me as focused, aggressive and the one who can keep us lifted after a loss. I’m also goofy and cheerful which has helped me get through challenges.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Currently I’m involved in youth group and coaching my brother’s 6th grade basketball team. I love working with our neighborhood kids!

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

My junior year has been a huge period of growth for me. One where my leadership skills have grown and I’ve had to develop new skills such as public speaking and leading by example. I have led the k-8 girls basketball camps throughout the year. I am also learning photography and have volunteered at several events for the special olympics as one of their photographers.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I was placed on JV Volleyball after being a starter the previous year. I was told I was "too short". Instead of letting that limit me, I focused on being able to jump higher and build strength. This led me to a starting position on the basketball court where I realized my talent, physicality and grit could really be effective. Being told no, made me realize I could change my effort and focus.

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm looking for a college that has liberal arts, psychology or business for academics. I'd like the women's basketball program to be hyped with coaches that care about us as athletes and students. Looking for a program that needs a defending guard and takes a chance on a 5'6" dedicated athlete.
