PGH Carolinas Expo: Akiem’s Primetime Performers (Part 2)

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Given that the Charlotte area is considered the cultural heartbeat of all things Carolinas, it was only fitting that a marquee high school girls basketball event featuring standouts from both Carolinas was held in this area.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>That was the case this past weekend as Prep Girls Hoops hosted its annual Freshman Showcase and Expo in this area. The location for this year's festivities was the Rock Hill Sports &amp; Events Center. It opened in 2019 and has hosted a multitude of events including Adidas travel basketball events.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We looked at a few of the noteworthy names from this past weekend in an earlier article. Oliver managed to connect on a few 3-point attempts when the 5v5 portion of the event commenced later in the afternoon. She does not let her 5-foot-6 guard status keep her from corralling a number of rebounds. Oliver is an efficient runner of the floor and will collect steals to create additional offensive possessions for her team. Sanders was a major reason why the Gators reached the 19-win plateau for the first time since the 2019-20 season when Goose Creek won 27 contests under head coach Tim Baldwin. Sanders is listed at 5-foot-5. She displayed her offensive efficiency with her ability to attack the rim with consistency. She also had no problems drawing contact to take her opportunities at the free throw line. What makes Britt so dangerous is she has a 5-foot-10 build but can run the floor better than many one or two guards. Add her ability to finish strong at the rim plus efficiency as a rebounder and one will see why 5A Westwood is overjoyed to see Britt in the Redhawks colors. Britt can also play numerous positions on the floor. Hinnant was another of those 2027s and is coming off of an AAU season where she wore the uniform of FBC Eclipse Carolina Elite. Her ability to attack the rim is only one element of what is an already well-developed game. That is complimented by what she is able to get accomplished in the passing game. Listed at 5-foot-6, she will find the correct passing lanes and ensure her teammates are involved in the flow of the game. Her defensive game is sound as well. Hinnant averaged 10.5 points per game last season in 31 games for John Paul II Catholic. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
