The PGH Freshman Showcase is in the books, and there are plenty of players to highlight from the event. We'll start by going through the 5v5 teams individually. So, over the next ten days, we'll highlight each of the teams and everyone I had notes on from the event, which is almost everyone. Today, we'll start with team one.

Leyton Haseleu

In settings like the PGH Freshman Showcase, forwards may not get rewarded for being a forward who runs the floor hard. Haselu did an excellent job getting up and down the floor and making herself available for long outlets, and she had good hands to come down with some of those passes. She's a physical kid under the basket, but the effort she showed to be a part of the transition offense when she didn't have to says a lot about who she is as a player. She's one to keep tabs on at Pardeeville because if she does that every game, it'll be hard to keep her off the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='990394' first='Lexie' last='Zemlo']

The Randolph is a little undersized to be playing against some of the lengths I saw her play against, but she more than held her own. She made some perimeter shots that helped space the floor out and was active in the passing lanes. Zemlo jumped a few passes and ran in transition, but her level of engagement at that age isn't something you always find. I thought she did solid work away from the ball, which helped allow kids who needed the ball to be the best versions of themselves.

Quinn Lodes

I've seen Lodes on a handful of occasions at various venues around the state. She's been recovering from a knee injury for a while, and this was the first time I've seen her without her brace. I thought she looked much quicker off the dribble, which could be because she used her full range of motion of her knee for the first time since I've seen her play. Lodes beat her initial defender whenever she wanted. She's always been an excellent shooter, but if she can do that at the varsity level, she could be another productive guard added to KM's backcourt.

[player_tooltip player_id='855854' first='Morgan' last='Martinez']

The final player from team one to highlight is the perfect complimentary piece to a team with high-usage kids. Martinez was all over the place on both ends of the floor. She rebounded, passed, earned her team extra possessions, and created multiple turnovers. She found her way to multiple offensive rebounds and used her length well on the defensive end of the floor. The future Wisconsin Lutheran Viking is the type of player who will do whatever it takes to win games, and that's valuable.
