2026 Pre-Season Film Study- Point Guards

Over the course of the next few weeks of September we will be really focusing on players who we have faith in seeing their numbers go up and seeing them execute in their high school seasons. I am looking at the class of 2026 ball players with first taking a look at the point guards I have chosen to write about, these guards have a great season ahead of them! Here's the start of the 2026 class pre-season film study!    Outstanding skill set and drive for the game. Her excellent court vision was one quality that I found impressive on watching her game over film, she doesn't give up on a play. Holds an excellent defensive position with the ball and without the ball. She delivers some strong backcourt performance, protects the ball well because of her great handles. She has a keen awareness of where she needs to be on the court. Get ready to see her skills improve even more.     She evolves to the opposing team well, picking out their weaknesses and being a great teammate on and off the bench. She strives on each and every play to make something happen for her team, she takes the ball to the rim with great body control. She gets in the paint with the bigs and isn't afraid to grab a few rebounds. Handels the ball well and attacks the open gaps of the defense.     Takes risks, always seems to be near the ball either getting a steal or hounding her opponent and isn't hesitant to stand up for anyone on the floor. I like how explosive she is with the ball as she attacks the rim—she can score inside and outside the paint, easily blowing past her opponent. She continues with the play never stopping to get the perfect shot. Used a strong motor when playing the game.     She did an amazing job of locating her post player who was rolling to the hoop. Perfectly executed! Aggressive approach to the bucket, reaching the free throw line and making the shot. I am so excited to watch Jackson play for Hilliard Darby in her high school debut! She is a dynamic guard who is adept at handling situations on both sides of the court. I enjoy how quickly she moves, how she chooses when and where to shoot, and how fiercely she defends herself!     This girl is a stealing machine when it comes to defensive skills, she has such quick movements it makes it hard to get around her with the ball or even get the next pass. She gets in the passing lanes, sees the next pass and gets on help side defense. She's a great floor leader with high expectations for herself, she pushes herself and has great body control to be patient on the offensive end. Gets to the free throw line and hits her outside shots.     I enjoy how Maas's quick passes down the court quicken the pace of the game and set up easy baskets, she really sets the pace of the game and is patient with the ball. Hits shots from the outside, athletic, quick feet, and reliable with and without the ball. She can shoot from behind the three-point line and doesn't hesitate to take the ball to the rim.     She can make the outside shot from behind the arc and positions herself to score at the right place at the right time. Every play, she is aware of her proper position on the court. She is an expert on the wings, but because of her strong ball protection, she can also play inside and outside the paint. With a powerful skill set, this guard is long and aggressive, capable of forcing mistakes and using her hands to seize opportunities.
