Nicole Douglas | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
As a retired United States Army Officer with 25 years of service, Coach Douglas brings a unique "mission-first" perspective to the basketball court. Her distinguished military career—marked by leadership, discipline, and a Bronze Star Medal for service in Iraq and Afghanistan—defines the values she uses to empower the next generation of student-athletes to excel in sports, academics, and life. A graduate of the Command and General Staff College, Coach Douglas has spent the last five years leading multiple middle school teams at Destined for Greatness (AAU) in Waco and recently served as the Assistant Varsity Girls Coach at Vanguard College Preparatory School. She further expands her impact by coaching the 9th and 10th-grade girls’ teams for Destined for Greatness. Her coaching philosophy is rooted in innovative skill development and a specialized "Mental Toughness" program. Coach Douglas believes that mastering fundamentals is only half the battle; building the resilience to navigate the rigors of competition is what truly prepares a player for the next level. Beyond the sidelines, she serves as a Sports Writer and Scout for Prep Girls Hoops. This national role provides a front-row seat to what collegiate recruiters are looking for, allowing her to guide campers toward the specific exposure and skill sets needed to succeed at the college level. Coach Douglas believes basketball is a powerful tool for mastering life's essential lessons: discipline, grit, and teamwork. Inspired by Maya Angelou’s insight that it is about where you take your dreams, she is committed to building the leaders of tomorrow. Coach Douglas and her husband, John, are the proud parents of Nicolas and Ashley. An avid traveler and lifelong student of the game, she lives by the words of Napoleon Bonaparte: “La victoire appartient aux plus persévérants”—Victory belongs to the most persevering.
