Simmie Colson | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Williams is healthy and adds another piece to this talented squad and watching her rebound on both ends and run the floor. also on both ends was nice. She showed the “hands and footwork” to score and played solid defense

Williams is committed to play at Goldey-Beacom College. This 6’2 center is heading to Delaware! Of course, Williams has the size that cannot be taught or coached, but more importantly she has great hands. Her teammates don’t always stick her on target on the low block but Williams is able to secure the ball. Her hands also come up big on the boards. She uses her strong frame to stay consistent on the board.

Williams asked me what she needed to add and I told her “GO AFTA EVERYTHING” off the rim and she has been doing just that. She has also been playing with a little pain and I remember telling her “You need to take a break” and she responded, “NO, my team needs me”. Okay fast forward, better agility around the basket to score and she’s defending not only in the paint but outside of it

Williams improved lateral movement grabbed some next level coaches attention as she showed she could also defend outside the paint. Her college ready frame and standing above “the magic number” created problems on both ends inside the paint but just adding a few extra touches to her game shows she’s been working. Yes, she rebounded and ran the floor on both ends, scored around the basket but she also showed she could score off the dribble as well as see the floor and make good decisions

Williams is one of the MOST IMPROVED BIGS in Texas over the past 3 years. One more time, I don’t fabricate and watching her play HURT and score around the basket with players literally hanging on her tells a different story about where she is with her progression. She rebounded, on both ends, ran the floor and even handled the ball and made passes in the open court. Defense was solid and she scored off the dribble

Williams has continued to elevate her game and she too was one of the BIGS that showed her on the court progression at the #simmiecolsonclassic. I had a chance to catch up with her this past weekend at her organizations’ intersquad games as well as a one day tournament the day after and her playing in pain and not letting up blew me away. The “hands and footwork” keep getting better, she’s becoming more fluid around the basket, as well as on defense yet her rebounding and getting the break going was another big plus

Williams made my Player Spotlight a few weeks ago and watching her progression over the years has been special for me because of her desire to get better. I think what impressed me even more at my event was her “hands and footwork” and finishing stronger after contact. She’s nowhere near the finished product and I’m expecting a big club ball season
