Continue ReadingOkeke has shown progression since caught her initially at The Legends event hosted by Cynthia Cooper and Sheryl Swoopes and as her legend is about to begin, she continues to show she has the potential to dominate a game from either end of the court. Her college ready frame, her height, her being “long and athletic” all play a part in what’s coming yet she is going after everything off the rim and finishing with players literally hanging on her. Interior defense is nice but she’s showing she can play at the top of the press as well as defend outside the paint
Jones is showing her versatility at the 5 in a variety of ways starting with her facing the basket and scoring on the short jumper but also stepping outside the paint and defend. Her interior defense is strong, she understands how to use her college ready frame on both ends of the court and when you factor in her scoring around the basket, putbacks included, both after contact, that’s BIG. So is her rebounding and running the floor on both ends
Williams made my Player Spotlight a few weeks ago and watching her progression over the years has been special for me because of her desire to get better. I think what impressed me even more at my event was her “hands and footwork” and finishing stronger after contact. She’s nowhere near the finished product and I’m expecting a big club ball season
Highlights
Taylor is yet another one of those unknown gems her club coach finds and she told me “Colson, you’re going to love this kid”. She was right but I wasn’t the only one as she created plenty of buzz . She has guard like skills like her court vision had me speechless, yet it fits after I found out she played the 1 at times for her high school team. She also played the passing lane and handled the ball in the open court afterward, to either score or dish yet her power in the paint and scoring with either hand, along with her defense had me smiling
Sierra grabbed my attention before high school and it was good to finally catch back up with her. Her poise around the basket, her not backing down while showing she could rebound with the “BIGS” as well as score against then inside was impressive. She also mixed it up and attacked off the dribble to score, dropped the short jumper and made key passes yet her defense, both in and OUTSIDE the paint showed her versatility to go along with her “college ready frame”
