Legion Collegiate’s loss turned out to be the gain of one of the premier 4A teams in the state in South Pointe. Murrell will play her final season at the high school level with a Stallions team that will once again have state aspirations. Murrell’s stature gives any team she is on a noteworthy height advantage but she seamlessly fuses it together with an overall versatile offensive skillset. Her final season through the AAU ranks was spent running with FBC Legacy. She uses every bit of that stature to her advantage – not only as a scorer and rebounder but also as a shot blocker.

Her pick and roll game was clicking. Very aggressive cutting to the basket. Hard-nosed determination earned her multiple trips to the FT line. Fluid mobility; hustled to get back on D to prevent quick-hitting offense. Notable rebounding effort, especially weak-side.

has some nice height that she uses to grab rebounds on both sides. She blocked shots with ease in the paint, and she did well bringing the ball up the court if needed. She expanded the court knocking it down from deep even with some big hands coming her way.

Murrell wore the Legacy North 17U uniform this past weekend at the Nike Nationals in Chicago. Her team won its bracket in a victory on Monday over GBL Premier 17 EYCL. At 6-foot-2, she certainly helps a team’s rebounding efforts in addition to adding scoring depth in the frontcourt. Murrell places plenty of emphasis on defense – including blocking shots and taking charges. Setting screens is another positive aspect of her game. Murrell transferred from Legion Collegiate and will be part of one of the premier 4A teams in the state in South Pointe. Her career also included a stop at 1A Lewisville.

Speaking of former Legion Collegiate standouts transferring to 4A state powers, Murrell will be sporting South Pointe Stallions red this season meaning that she and Alexander will become well-acquainted with each other as opponents given South Pointe and Camden are region rivals. Murrell adds to the depth the Stallions will present this season in the painted area and will definitely bolster South Pointe’s rebounding efforts. She averaged eight rebounds and 7.2 points per game last season for the Lancers. Her addition could be what South Pointe needs to finally grab the brass ring it has been denied the last few seasons.

was getting inside for some rebounds and knew how to go right back up with it. She had some tough takes in the paint, and she battled contact with ease making sure her points counted. She was strong on the boards ending her opponents’ possessions to take the other direction.

Aiyana made the move this off season from Lewisville HS a Class 1A program to the Lady Lancers. Murrell is still a RAW talent and continues to get better with more playing time each time out. Aiyana has a good work ethic to work down low or face-up from short distance for a jumper. She rebounds the ball well and does a nice job of working both sides of the court. She fills the lane in transition and finishes at the basket. Aiyana jumped up from #46 to #28 this time around.

Aiyana Murrell is a special athlete. On defense, she reads the court well. On offense, she can score at the rim with a variety of moves. Murrell also runs the floor hard in transition. When a shot goes up by one of the Team United players, Murrell goes after the offensive board. She is a dynamic player with fantastic speed and jumping skills.

Murrell runs the floor very well and fills the lane in transition. She’s still a RAW talent with her play and still will continue to get better down the road. Aiyana could be a rim protector down the road with her ability to challenge and alter shots. She can step-out to the short corner and knockdown an open look.
