Alana has been proving she’s a walking mismatch. Especially lately, McNamara has shown she can be a go-to option downlow or a secondary creator on the wing. She works hard plus she’s got some counters when equally matched with physicality. Alana is steadily improving and she has the influence to keep her squad in any game. For this reason, Alana is likely climbing the ranks this summer.

Alana’s strong frame makes her extremely difficult to pressure, especially when bringing the ball up the court. She uses that strength effectively around the basket, operating well with her back to the rim in the post. She also fights hard on the offensive glass to create second-chance opportunities. In addition, she has a solid mid-range shot and does a great job recognizing when she’s open and confidently taking the shot.

McNamara makes it easy to include her in these types of discussions. An unquestionably large factor for ABWHS this season. Alana’s steadiness and useability give plenty of situational advantages for the squad. The ’28 forward is likely to climb the ranks for what’s she’s been able to do.

It’s been clear that Alana is someone who’s been dedicated in improving her craft. Her hardworking efforts and natural instincts were at the forefront of her game, but now there’s some other areas of her game that’ve grown tremendously. She’s still a great rebounder and continues to have a soft touch. However, it’s her level of efficiency plus the patience she possesses that’s helped raise her level of play. McNamara doesn’t shy away from contact and when considering how well she finishes at the rim, it’s getting increasingly hard to stop her. Alana is starting to play like a seasoned vet and she’s only a sophomore. In her last game vs Canton, she put up 23 pts, 11 reb, 4 ast, while being 90% from the field as well as knocking down 5-6 from the ft line. This is a serious name within the ’28 class.

Alana turned in a strong performance against St. Mary’s, finishing with 13 points and 12 rebounds. She plays a tough, physical style and consistently makes smart decisions on the floor. Around the basket, she does a great job backing down defenders and using her strength to score, while also excelling in the dunker spot by moving to open areas for short mid-range looks. She establishes excellent post position, sealing defenders and creating easy scoring opportunities once teammates get her the ball.

Featured many times this year, the double-double threat is quite the freshman big. Even though she offers stately 2-way play, the dependability of Alana on the defensive side of the ball is one of the underlying factors as to why she’s so effective. Each game, McNamara is liable to secure a bunch of possessions by snagging the needed rebounds from the post areas. She gets her positioning from her strong frame and she has a nose for the ball. Alana also contributes a lot by getting her hands on the ball in the lane. Whether that’s on a shovel pass in traffic or swiping it from players as they’re attempting their layups, her hands are extremely fast. Not only deflections or steals, but Alana also comes up withing some timely blocks down there. Her defensive presence really rounds her game out to make her the #2 ranked player at her position.

A bit of a traditional style of power forward that’s productive and highly efficient on the floor. Nothing too fancy in Alana’s game, she just gets it done by any means. She has no problem doing the dirty work, even though it isn’t the most appealing job. Alana sets hard screens that gets herself and teammates open. The determination shown fighting for rebounds is impressive. McNamara doesn’t hesitate to put back shots that fall off the rim. Her strong frame also allows to her operate fearlessly from her favorite places on the floor. On the other side of the ball, she gets prime position to snatch defensive rebounds. Her ability to find a body and box out can be quickly overlooked, but it’s an essential factor to her game. Alana is ranked #34 overall and #3 at the power forward position.

Alana is a strongly built forward that has a nose for the ball and is relentless with the putback opportunities around the rim. McNamara gets involved in various off-ball actions. Not only is she setting screens for teammates, but she also makes herself an available option within the offense. Alana gets position on her opponents by getting low, turning her hips and sealing them. When posted on the block or ducking in, McNamara makes herself a big target flashing her hands high. She shows different finishes from the midrange and under. Alana is a solid defender too. She reacts quickly to the ball and doesn’t mind fighting for loose balls. It’s common for her to be getting her hands on the 50/50 balls or getting entangled for jump balls. Alana is one of the better bigs amongst her peers due to her physicality in her game and competitive attitude she presents.
