Maley just made another jump in my rankings after catching back up with her in the tournament see evaluations here and to be honest with you, watching her game grow to what it has become from more of a finesse big offensively to one who is showing she can be powerful around the rim is huge as she gets ready for her final club season and already has D1 interest awaiting

Maley is probably one of the most underrated “bigs” in the state and seeing her go from a back to the basket player back in middle school to expanding her game over the years speaks volumes about her “work ethic” as well as DESIRE to get better. She gave me an eyeful at the #SimmieColsonClassic and our paths will cross again multiple times throughout the the season see evaluations here

#17 up from #20 Maley falls into that “long and athletic” group. Her mom reminded me how athletic she was after going after a ball out of bounds full speed and leaping over me, yet speaking of leaping, I’ve had a chance to watch her go from a back-to-the-basket player to being able to score off the dribble as well as from outside. On top of that, she’s defending “on the ball” as well as inside, plus she rebounds on both ends, see evaluations here

Maley has fallen into that “nightmare to defend” group because she’s mixing it up offensively nicely. Yeah, the “hands and footwork” create problems, so do the putbacks, she rebounds on both ends, but her short jumper as well as scoring off the dribble from the wing was nice, so was her defense and timing to block shots

Maley is a reliable rim runner with great timing, she works the paint with smart cuts to the high post and maintains poise on her finishes by elevating straight up on turnarounds without fading and also boast a classic hook shot. She has soft hands to secure off-target passes and stays disciplined on the glass, sitting down into box-outs. Showed flashes of perimeter skill with a confident face-up attack, capped by a smooth spin move finish at the rim. It’s great to see a rising junior play with such poise and hunger to get even better. At 6’3 with a strong work ethic, Maley has no ceiling.

#20 (Up from #33)
Maley stands above “the magic number” yet she has become more athletic on both ends and she’s also long, placing her in that category I call “THE BASE” but her timing to block, alter and (or) deflect shots was impressive, as well as her midrange jumper and rebounding yet what did it for me was her maneuvering around the basket to score with ease. Hands and footwork, coupled with the “drop step” dropped the mic

Maley gave me multiple looks through the club season starting with my trip to Austin to cover her team’s scrimmage see evaluation here Here’s the deal, she stands above “the magic number” yet the real magic was shown as her athleticism got better over the season and she’s long so blocking shots and scoring off the dribble was nice, so was the short jumper as well as defending, in and outside the paint yet her making the PGH Sophomore ID All-Showcase team see evaluation here spoke volumes as she moves up 9 places

Maley’s positioning and conditioning is there. These are two things that should not be taken lightly for a big. She is right on the verge of unlocking a little bit more aggression and she will become lethal. I saw her get a steal and full court finish meaning she has ball handling ability.

Maley continues to expand her game and after altering, deflecting, and blocking shots to open the event up, that continued when the games went “live in the 5 on 5”. She’s becoming more fluid around the basket and scoring even stronger after contact, her interior defense was solid yet some big pluses as she also stepped outside the paint to defend, scored off the dribble from the wing, and faced the basket to drop the short jumper

I don’t know how many games she played over the weekend as she put in work both her team as well as helping out on the 2025 squad yet her progression on the court has me smiling because she’s becoming a dominant player on both ends of the floor. Yeah, she rebounds and defends inside the paint but her shot blocking has, well SHOT up plus she’s not only finishing after contact, she scoring off the dribble and dropping the short jumper
