Sometimes overlooked because of living in Western Kentucky, Hughes makes a big move from 58th overall to 41st in our latest update. Alyrica is a volume scorer whose numbers will see a big bump this season if she can iron out her shooting stroke from behind the three point line.

I did not get to see Hughes play in person this season, but I did hear about her a lot this past season. To put it simply, she is a stat stuffer. She brings a lot of defensive intensity and can make a lot happen on the offensive end.

Hughes hit the 1,000 point mark this season and she still has a lot of points to go. She is her team’s leading scorer and rebounder at 14.8 PPG and 7 RPG, and she has helped her team start the season with a 12-5 record. Hughes is a long, athletic guard who can fill up a stat sheet. I wish the KHSAA kept track of stats like steals and assists because she comes up with a ton of steals and assists as well.

Staying in Western Kentucky, Hughes moves from 95 to 59 and could move up even more if her teammates step up and provide her some help this season and lighten her scoring load. Alyrica has shown the ability to score the ball off the bounce at a high level. She needs to improve her three point shooting to become more well rounded but the potential is there for her to be a scholarship level player.
