About ALYSSA

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My game is a combination of skill, finesse, and power. I can get my shots off the bounce, and I can knock down shots from midrange and three pointers. I can handle the basketball, and I can also post up. I am a three-level scorer. I am also a good rebounder and passer. I love to set my teammates up for easy baskets. I am focusing on becoming more impactful on the defensive end in terms of steals.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mentality is to be the most impactful person on the floor at all times. My mentality is to go at whoever is guarding me. My mentality is that no one can guard me 1 on 1. I want to put constant pressure on the defense. My personality is to be immediate impact whenever I am on the floor and to impact my teammates off the floor with my leadership and mindset.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I have received academic awards for the 3.5 GPA club.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I developed leadership qualities through athletics and academics. My parents have always stressed to me that in order to be successful you must be able to set yourself apart. Find ways to serve others. I have done that in the past by staying after practice and working with teammates on specific drills or plays to get them up to speed.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Early in my athletic career I was not as gifted as other players. For those reasons, I had to grind to get to where I am. I did not make the 5th grade basketball team. I was crushed but I had to look at myself in the mirror and be honest. I was not good enough at that time. Therefore, I continued to work. Nutrition became a focal point, and I overcame that disappointment.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that is going to continue to develop me as a person, student-athlete, and prepare me for life after college.

She plays solid D, grabs boards, and brings a physical presence to the game. She had a solid summer where schools took notice of her style of play. Keep an eye on this young lady as she continues to grow.
