Barner is a multi-sport athlete who excels not only in basketball but also in flag football. Her play has earned her a plethora of offers – most recently from Western Carolina and UNC-Wilmington. She also previously secured one courtesy of North Carolina A&T. A 5-foot-10 rising senior that can operate either at the two or the three, she will find plenty of time at the wing. Someone of Barner’s caliber understands how to throw defenders off balance with her 3-point shooting and ability to get past defenders in addition to what she can get accomplished as a rebounder. Barner played in 26 of 8A Myers Park’s 29 contests last season while averaging 16.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.5 steals and three assists per matchup. 

Amani is a quick athletic versatile guard that can score. One of her biggest strengths is her mid-range game and pull up jumper. She has a nice cross over move that she uses to create space to get her shot off consistently. Barner has several Division I offers and will continue to gain even more interest over the summer.

Amani has great quickness to make slashing one on one moves past defenders. She has a shifty crossover that allows her to get into the paint. Barner does a great job of playing off two feet and being able to make the next move without turning the ball over. If she learns to finish consistently at the rim her stock will continue to rise even higher.

Barner is an athletic guard who can score off the bounce and can get to the rim at ease. Her tenacious defense leads to many steals that creates transition buckets. She is crafty and smooth with her one on one moves. Amani is also a solid three point shooter when she gets her feet set. She is definitely the engine that keeps Myers Park going.

Barner is a versatile combo guard with good athleticism. She is versatile in the fact that she can create her own shot off the bounce or spot up and knock down a three beyond the arc. Amani has improved her ball handling and is playing at an elite level. She is a strong rebounding guard and bothers people on the defensive end. She hold multiple DI offers at this time.

Amani Barner Amani Barner 5'8" | SG Myers Park | 2027 State NC did well handling the ball under pressure all around the perimeter finding her open teammates.  She was getting in the paint and knocking down her floaters over her opponents.  She had some nice moves in the paint creating separation and was very difficult to defend her shot at the midrange level.

Amani Barner Amani Barner 5'8" | SG Myers Park | 2027 State NC was doing well looking for the next best pass for her team finding them as they cut to the block hitting them right in their hands for the points.  She played tight defense making it difficult for anyone to get by her from the top of the key.  She crashes the boards being tough going after rebounds.  She hustles back on defense showing how she can even block shots in transition.  On defense, she was anticipating what her opponents would do jumping in front of the passes.

Amani Barner Amani Barner 5'8" | SG Myers Park | 2027 State NC does well handling the ball and directing her teammates from the top of the key.  She can make the defense shift with the way she gets into the paint.  She runs the floor well being able to score in transition whether she brings it all the way up herself or scores off the pass.  She knows how to attack the gaps making the defense collapse setting her teammate up for the shot around the perimeter.  She had some tough on ball defense, too, leading to turnovers.

Barner is a smooth guard who impacts a game on both offense and defense. Barner is a three-level scorer who can create space for her jumpshot in any situation. She is also an outstanding defender who can force steals and deflections with her defensive energy and effort.

Amani Barner Amani Barner 5'8" | SG Myers Park | 2027 State NC is a big contributor for her Myers Park team.  She knows how to get downhill scoring off the glass, and she makes some nice moves causing her defenders to lose balance creating her own open shot.  She can knock it down on all levels using her ball handling to get the open look.  On defense, she gets her hands in the way deflecting passes to take the other direction making plays to score in transition.
