About Amayah
Expert Analysis
Jill Dunn | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Currently ranked as the #1 Combo Guard in the state here are several reasons to support the ranking. Amayah can score the ball at will. She is very good at creating her own shot possibly breaking a few ankles as she accelerates to the rim. She also can spot up and shoot high percentage shots at different areas all over the floor. Defensively, she is one of the best guards because she is excellent at anticipating where the ball is going and being able to cause turnovers that lead into steals.

is one of those fascinating players who plays at a high level consistently but also remains the same composure and confidence in her skills no matter what the scoreboard is showing. She’s shifty making her moves with the ball getting by her defenders, and she can shoot the ball from anywhere on the court whether that’s off the dribble or off the pass. She doesn’t back down from guarding anyone on the other end of the court either picking the pocket of her opponents or jumping in front of passing lanes knowing what her opponents are going to do.

is such a tough opponent to play. She handles the ball so well and is efficient with her decision making whether she’s making the pass or making the shot herself. On defense, she picks the pockets of her opponents with ease taking it the other direction. She hustles back making sure her opponents don’t have any easy fast breaks.

Impact player in many ways. Amayah can score off the bounce and make it look easy while she does it. As a dominate ball handler she does a good job of limiting turnovers and finding open teammates. She brings a competitive spirit to the court and is disruptive defensively. There is a reason she is ranked as the number one combo guard in the state.

is truly a special guard with her ball handling and play making ability. She has a finesse getting to the open space, and plays at next level speed making the right adjustments to get her passes to their intended targets. The way she creates space from her defenders for her own jumpers is difficult to defend, and she is sure to knock down shots all around the perimeter. She’s tough on defense, too, being aggressive making her moves to pick the pocket of her opponents.

is so smooth with the ball handling it with speed, making adjustments to get to the right spot, and hitting her teammates with the perfect pass. She hustles back on defense being ready to block shots and contest some fast breaks making it difficult for her opponents to score in transition. She can strip the ball from guards trying to get past her.

A great point guard prospect with the ball handling skills and precision passing to set up scoring chances for her teammates throughout a game. Showed elite ability scoring on all three levels versus good competition. Good knock down shooter from three point range even off the step back. Great athleticism and can make acrobatic layups in traffic no doubt she was one of the better prospects at the event!

Amayah Barnes is an elite shooter and terrific shot-creator. Amayah has a skill for days, and she had some moves to create space on the perimeter and in the paint that raised some eyebrows. She had a move she made near the corner where she let the ball bounce, then stepped back and hit a tough shot. Amayah is a really fun player to watch.

Amayah is the only 2027 on this First Team All-Tournament. She did her thing and was consistently a double-digit scorer and led her team in that fashion. Her ball handling, awareness, and ability to see the floor made her one of the best passers and point guards in Columbus. Amayah can change her direction and speed so quickly which makes her hard to contain with her skill as one of the top pure scorers I’ve seen this year.

Amayah is always a threat to score and be the best in the building right when she walks through the door. She’s a three-level scorer that was hitting from deep but can score it from anywhere. Her change of direction with the dribble and stepback move is some of the best I’ve seen. AB is a creative ball handler that makes everyone better around her.
