This girl can has expert court awareness, exceptional communication skills, and she’s got speed in spades; this is Aniya Morris. Something that truly stands out about Jane is her selflessness. During the middle stretch of the match, Aniya had possession of the ball and sped down the court. She got as close as she could to the opposing team’s basket, where there was about a half chance she might have made the shot.

However, Aniya scanned the court and saw that one of her teammates was in a much better position to score. She made a quick and precise pass to her teammate that led directly to her team gaining a point. Her communication skills are also worth talking about; not only was she able to skillfully communicate with her teammate in a way that earned her team a point, but she also would call out screens, switches, and loose balls.

Throws really good outlet passes, which is a great skill to have when you are that good of a rebounder. Good playmaker from the high post, keeps the ball up high. When I went over to the Hive to check her team out, it was their third game in a relatively short period of time and you could tell they were a bit sluggish. Still hit some shots from the outside. Stellar athlete.

Morris played well with her AAU squad, N10sity, this summer. She did what your typical post player does well: rebound, score under the basket, and block shots. However, her best skill is her ability to play out of position.

Morris has a solid handle and can attack the basket with force. No one stands a chance at stopping her drives, and she finishes well through contact and over taller defenders. She’s a solid finisher, but I would like to see her score more with her left. If she gets off-hand finishing down consistently, then she will be even better.
