About Ava

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would describe my gameplay style as a smart and unselfish point guard who looks to create opportunities for my teammates first. I focus on having strong ball control, making good decisions, and keeping the offense organized. I like to push the pace when there’s an opportunity for a fast break, but I also know when to slow the game down and set up a play. Defense is important to me too — I apply

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I would describe my mentality as very focused and determined. When I set a goal, I stay locked in and do whatever it takes to achieve it. I don’t let distractions get in the way, especially during games or practice. I take my responsibilities seriously and always try to improve, whether it’s working on my skills or learning from mistakes.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed strong leadership and teamwork skills through my experiences as a team captain on my basketball team and a group leader in science projects. As a team captain, I learned how to motivate my teammates, communicate effectively, and lead by example both on and off the court. I make sure everyone feels included and stays focused on our goals.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a Division 1 college where I can compete at a high level in basketball and continue to grow as an athlete. Playing D1 basketball is important to me because I want to challenge myself against strong competition and be part of a competitive program. Academically, I’m looking for a school with a strong science program that will prepare me for my future career goals.

Ava Bacon came on strong in the final game of the day for Hustle Academy. Bacon is a lightning-quick point guard who can score the basketball or dish the rock. Bacon can torch a defense from beyond, but can also use her speed to beat defenders of the dribble. She has very quick feet and hands that allow her to be an outstanding on-the-ball defensive player. Bacon has excellent court vision that helps her set up her teammates for easy points.
