Matos is a versatile guard who plays with great pace, consistently shows strong footwork and body control to shield defenders and create space for her shot. Decisive on the floor, with an array of moves that allow her to score at all three levels – has range as a shooter but is equally comfortable putting the ball on the floor and attacking. Off the ball, she moves efficiently, playing well off screens and turning corners tightly to get open looks. She had an excellent weekend and is definitely a player to watch moving forward.

Ranney may have lost the battle to a very good Brandeis squad out of New York, but Kayla’s two-way guard play shined bright! Her willingness to attack the basket on baseline rips and let it fly confidently from the perimeter paid off. She converted fast breaks and knocked in a pair of triples en-route to 14 points. Defensively, an assertive press disrupted the offensive flow, at times, and combined with anchoring the perimeter, made for 8 steals.
