Ava is a big time playmaker for her team, being able to make plays with the ball in her hands or playing off-ball. She shoots the ball lights out from deep and can hit shots with little space, thanks to her fast release. She utilizes her quick first step when attacking down-hill and finishes through contact.

Ava Engskov has developed into a well-rounded offensive weapon who can score regardless of where defenses try to force her. She comfortably operates from beyond the arc, in the mid-range, and around the basket, giving opponents few opportunities to take away her entire game.

What stands out most is her improved decision-making when attacking. Rather than settling for difficult looks, she does an excellent job recognizing defensive positioning and working herself into efficient scoring opportunities. Her offensive approach has become increasingly polished, allowing her to consistently generate quality shots throughout the flow of a game.

Here’s a sophomore ready to make a big step forward this winter. The Cardinals lose Makaila Johnson from last year’s team, and someone is going to have to step up to fill that ballhandling/scoring void, and Engskov has proven this spring and summer that she is up for the task. She has the ability to score from all levels and has looked a lot more dynamic and evolved in her processing in order to create high-percentage shots.
