About Ava

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My game style is very versatile. I have the ability to knock down shots from outside, drive to the basket, and post up. I led my high school team as one of the top three in every statistical category. My freshmen season also included a historic blocking season at my high school. I currently hold my school record for most blocks in a single game(12) and most blocks in a season(74).

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a quiet but determined mentality and always work hard to get the job done. In sports and in life, I stay focused, disciplined, and don’t give up easily. Although I’m naturally quiet, I have a likable personality and lead by example, earning the respect of my peers.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am currently the freshmen student body president. I also serve on the student ambassador program at my high school as well as a member of HOSA and the Best Buddies Club which fights to end isolation of students with disabilities.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed important skills like leadership, teamwork, and helping others. I work well with others, listen, and do my part to reach goals. I also try to lead by example and support people around me. Through school and activities, I’ve learned to be responsible, kind, and willing to help my community.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, I have faced challenges. I have had to deal with adversity in my life. Those things would have stopped most people. I was able to push through and persevere. It was not an easy road. However, my determination, my support system, and my faith helped guide me through.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a place where I can be coached well and challenged.
