About Ava

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a high motor player. I practice hard and I play hard. I never give up. I am an aggressive and competitive player.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

On the count I am very competitive. I always try to give everything I have. Off court I am soft hearted and quiet.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am part of 4H club, and one of my projects is showing pigs in the local stock show. Two Grand Champion show pigs and one Showmanship. I am the 2nd Vice President of the 4H club. I had perfect attendance, and All A honor roll this past school year. Junior High UIL events. 2023-2024 1st place UIL calculators, 2024 2nd place UIL art, and 2023-2024 2nd place UIL social studies.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have been a starter on my school basketball team, and I try to express my leadership on the court by how hard I work and cheer for my teammates. Try to motivate them in by never giving up no matter the outcome. I have started volunteering my help in the pie contest and hamburger stand at our local jamboree festival event.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Trying to balance everything I am involved in while working hard to keep grades up. I am in cross country, basketball, track and field, tennis, show pig project, and AAU basketball.

What type of college are you looking for?

Preferably a college in Texas, but open to any college with a great program in animal science or biology. I want to be a veterinarian because I love animals.

Olivarez upside initially grabbed my attention because she falls into that “you won’t outwork me” group see evaluation here, but her intensity on defense has gotten even better as she did a good job defending “on the ball” in both the set as well as baseline to baseline. She also set the defender up nicely to attack and score off the dribble
