If you want to know why Tate’s stock rose, just watch her play. She has a TON of skill and upside. Tate is an athletic wing that has a knack for finding or creating lanes to the rim. She’s a solid finisher that can do it off both 1 or 2 feet. Tate has improved her jumper which makes her an even tougher matchup.

#45 Ava Tate Ava Tate Ava Tate 5'10" | SF Portage Central | 2026 State MI is a player I was excited to see on the list for the Headliners Invitational! Her dedication to training is evident in her performance.  She takes pride in her defense and is a tough on-ball defender.  She had multiple steals and blocks on the day, and if we were handing out a defensive player of Session 1, she would have been my pick. She is strong getting to the basket and finished with a couple of And 1’s and showed her range by knocking down shots behind the arc.  I’m looking forward to watching her sophomore season at Portage Central.

2026 SG Ava Tate Ava Tate Ava Tate 5'10" | SF Portage Central | 2026 State MI was one of the strongest defenders and overall prospects at the PGH Top 250 Expo. It seems like she never stops grinding and working on her craft. Ava has accelerated her ball handling skills and offensive efficiency by working hard all off-season. Her strength and length makes her an effective defender and rebounder on both ends of the floor. Ava will be an exciting prospect to watch during session one on Nov. 12th.
