About Ava

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I play with good pace and control, make smart decisions, and can score at all three levels. I’m very comfortable in the mid-range, can knock down the three, and have strong ball handling.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I really like my teammates and value being someone they can count on. I’m very coachable and always trying to learn. I love to compete and win, and I’m used to playing up against older girls, so I’ve learned how to push myself and grow from that. I can be a perfectionist at times, but it helps me stay focused on getting better.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve grown as a leader and teammate both on and off the court. I’ve stepped into leadership roles on multiple teams, even as one of the youngest players, by communicating, encouraging my teammates, and holding us accountable. I push my teammates to make smart decisions . I also give back to my community by volunteering through my mom’s work, packing food for the needy.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One of my biggest challenges has been playing against older, more experienced players. It forced me to grow up quickly on the court and pushed me to work harder to keep up and stand out. I’ve also worked through the pressure of being a perfectionist, learning how to handle mistakes and stay mentally strong.

What type of college are you looking for?

My goal is to play Division I basketball.

On the defensive end, she was just as impressive, getting into passing lanes and coming away with multiple steals (4). Her two-way impact and confidence running the floor showed just a glimpse of her long-term potential.
