Averi impressed me a year ago at the SVSU MLK Classic. Her all-out effort on both ends of the court was impossible to miss during the Regional Finals. Averie was aggressive and active on defense. She deflected passes and had at least five steals. Averi grabbed a defensive rebound, pushed the ball up the court with pace, and dished out an unselfish dump-off pass for the assist. She split defenders with a straight-line burst to score a layup and made a smart backdoor cut to score a bucket. She’s a talented guard who’ll play a huge role in the Tars backcourt next season.

Averi split defenders with determined drives to the basket, giving Anchor Bay an edge at the SVSU MLK Classic. She drove past defenders early in the game to score two layups, snagged steals, and dished the ball to teammates when the defense converged. She converted both free throws after using a spin dribble to cause a foul and completed an old-fashioned 3-point play after finishing a strong left-handed layup in overtime. Averi scored 12 points and added 4 steals to help the Tars win the game.
