Averie, a standout for Genesee, is putting up video game numbers this season—and her impact stretches well beyond the scoreboard. While she can take over on offense, it’s her defensive dominance that truly separates her from the competition. Averaging over nine steals per game, she constantly disrupts opponents with relentless pressure, sharp anticipation, and lightning-quick hands. She has a knack for reading passing lanes and turning turnovers into instant offense, shifting momentum in a matter of seconds. Her all-around performance has helped power Genesee to an impressive 9–3 record, as her energy, intensity, and leadership continue to set the tone on both ends of the floor.

This week, Averie became just the 34th player in MHSAA girls basketball history to reach 2,000 career points. She opened the week with 47 points against Flint Hamady, then scored 50 in a 68-29 win over Clio to pass the milestone. She capped the week with 57 points, 10 rebounds, eight steals, and seven assists in a 79-61 victory over Flint New Standard Academy, finishing with 150 points over three games—an average of 50 points per game. With 219 points shy of becoming the Flint area’s all-time leading scorer, Averie has been dominant.

Averie will graduate as one of Michigan’s most dominant scorers. This week, she became only the 34th player in MHSAA girls basketball history to reach 2,000 career points. Averie ended the week with a mind-boggling 150 points, averaging 50 per game, and a 2-1 team record. She’s 219 points away from becoming the Flint area’s newest all-time leading scorer, with plenty of games left to do it. Averie is Michigan’s PGH x Foster Swift Sports Player of the Week for Jan. 11th-17th.

Averie has firmly established herself as one of the most dominant players in Division 3 and a clear contender for this year’s Player of the Year honors. The 5-foot-10 guard was nothing short of spectacular last season, leading the Flint area in scoring with 32.7 points per game, while also averaging 8.4 steals, 6.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.8 blocks. Her incredible production earned her a spot in the MHSAA record books 11 times, including new Flint-area records for most points (851) and steals (218) in a single season. A First Team All-State selection, Averie guided her team to the regional finals and will look to lead them even deeper this year. With her elite two-way ability, relentless energy, and scoring instincts, she’s poised for a massive senior campaign.

Averie was our Dec. 22nd-28th Player of the Week and she had another marvelous week to start February. Averie posted 81 points in two games with 50 points in a 72-49 win against Burton Bendle and 31 in a 53-30 win against Morrice.

Averie surpassed 1,000 points last week and now has 1,044 points in her career. She scored 32 points with an eye-popping 18 steals in a 57-6 win against Mt. Morris. In two games, Averie posted 53 points, 23 steals, 13 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks. Averie is averaging 28.9 points, 8.9 steals, 8.4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game. Averie earned Michigan’s Dec. 22nd-28th Player of the Week Award by dominating in multiple categories and reaching an esteemed scoring milestone. Genesee went 1-1 last week and is 5-2 to start the season.

Averie, a first-team Associated Press selection as just a sophomore last season, proved herself to be one of the state’s most electrifying scorers and a constant threat with the ball in her hands. Averaging an incredible 30.2 points, 8.1 steals, 7.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game, she set school records with 634 points in a season, 53 points in a single game, and 18 steals in a game. Known for her relentless defense, she constantly pressures opponents, tying up the ball and frustrating ball-handlers with her quick hands. With a sharp first step and excellent court vision to find her teammates, Averie is poised for an extraordinary junior season.

Zinn has been putting on a show for a while now and The Expo would be an excellent stage for the show to continue on. She’s a dynamic scorer that can use speed, agility and a dangerous jumper. Zinn could be a highlight reel in Grand Rapids.
