About Avery

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am an elite defender, that aims to disrupt the ball handler's rhythm and deny scoring. I am an off-ball defender as well. Denying passes, challenging drives, and closing out on the shooter. I have high basketball IQ. I'm great at reading the offensive player's body language and tendencies. As a point guard I am a positve leader. I have exceptional ball handling skills to navigate pressure.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a desire to win! I radiate competitive toughness. I focus on things that impact the final score. I know how to keep my composure even when things aren't going the way I would like. A positive, but strong willed person.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I want to be an entrepreneur, so I have listened to Grant Cardone 10x series to help with my leadership.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes. My father passed away when I was eleven months old. He was a professional athlete. Throughout life and sports my mom has always been there to support me, but there are so many things I believe that my dad could have taught me that I have missed out on. Developing as an athlete, in basketball there are many times I've needed my dad. This only makes me stronger.

Avery made a major impact on both ends of the floor, highlighted by several monster blocks that are rare for her position. Offensively, she showed strong touch with the ability to knock down floaters and runners in the lane. She displayed good vision in transition by consistently finding open teammates and making the right reads. She has a polished offensive bag, featuring a smooth step-through and an effective spin move. Her motor and athleticism stood out as well as she followed her own miss for a tip-in. In the championship game, she stepped up in a big way by hitting multiple deep-range three-pointers and scoring key baskets early to keep her team alive and tame the crowd.
