Avery used her quick-twitch explosive steps to blow by defenders with her dribble and frustrated ball-handlers with her defensive pressure at the LBI Thanksgiving Preview. Her crossover jabs created separation from defenders and Avery drove hard to score layups or earn free throws. She finished tough contested layups, converted several free throws, and defended the ball in a low/athletic stance. Avery secured steals and fired passes on a rope to teammates for assists. Her shifty crossover combinations and speed driving downhill DHO’s give Allendale an advantage at point guard. One of her best plays happened as she stole the ball, pushed it down the court, and then used a hesitation crossover to beat her defender to score a layup off two feet.
