Expert Analysis

With several players out for South Forsyth it was Avynn’s team to run at the point guard position solo and she did a great job over the course of the two days offensively and defensively. Avynn is a strong kid and a very good athlete so defensively she is a very good on the ball defender who does not mind getting into the mix in the paint either. She rebounds the ball very well for position and can turn defense into offense quickly off of opposing teams’ turnovers. Kniceley excelled pushing the ball in transition and finding open teammates, specifically future All American

. The two had a lot of chemistry and had impromptu give and go plays where they scored almost every time and came just by looking at each other. Avynn is a consistent player who will be a key factor in how far South Forsyth can go in the state playoffs next season, her final one in high school.

Kniceley is a really athletic guard who plays the game with a high IQ and a ton of unselfishness. She runs the show for South Forsyth to great effect getting the ball where it needs to go with few turnovers and plays with good quickness. South Forsyth loves to get out and run on the fast break where they score a lot of points and Avynn has a lot to do with that. She gets the ball out quick and in the pocket to open shooters and makes very good decisions with the ball in transition. Kniceley is also capable of making teams pay herself shooting the ball from behind the three point line.

This game was the most confident on the ball I have seen Avynn. She looked calm and under control against afeisty group of Ryle guards applying pressure. In a very close game, Knicely was composed and didn’t try to force anything that was not there. She had a couple sequences where she went behind her back on one play and dribbled the ball between her legs on another before pulling up in rhythm and shooting a shot from deep. Something I had not seen her do before and a sign that she is building more confidence as the season goes on, something she has earned playing very well against strong competition consistently.

Up from No. 81: High-energy two-way player. Feisty on-ball defender annoys opposing ball handlers with her activity. Uses her speed to get out in transition. Finishes with both hands. Outside shot continues to improve, opening the floor from distance.
