Bonaparte has been a part of a lot of winning basketball as of late at 1A Hunter-Kinard-Tyler. She has played at the varsity level since she was in the seventh grade and her Trojans have become 1A contenders in large part because of her heroics. When one becomes part of the Palmetto 76ers/A’ja Wilson Elite program as Bonaparte did, one knows they have built a statewide profile. One can place Bonaparte at either of the guard positions in a starting five. Bonaparte may only stand at 5-foot-5, but she will get herself in position to corral rebounds and is a playmaker on the defensive end of the floor as well.

Bonaparte playing her first season in the varsity ranks as a seventh grader also set herself up for increased success as an eighth grader. Eighth graders such as Bonaparte make up the lion’s share of the Trojans roster – which makes it even more remarkable that Hunter-Kinard-Tyler has been one of the more consistent 1A teams this season. She may be a youngster, but Bonaparte plays with plenty of confidence in big game situations where her production may make a difference between claiming a win or being dealt a loss. Among the skillset she possesses is an ability to ferociously attack the basket. Bonaparte is also difficult for opposing teams to contain as a defensive stalwart.

Bonaparte did her part – and then some – for her Hunter-Kinard-Tyler team against host team Bethune-Bowman. While her Trojans may not have received the result it was looking for – a 40-33 decision at the hands of the Mohawks, Bonaparte kept her team in the contest from start to finish. She scored 21 points which actually led all point-getters for either team. Bonaparte also did the bulk of her production when big time players step up – in the second half of contests. Twelve of her 21 came in the second half. Bonaparte is a tough task for opposing teams to deal with on offense or defense as she can collect steals to create additional offensive possessions.
