Elite athlete going to Notre Dame for soccer, graduating a year early, Kersh is a dynamic playmaker with her court vision and shifty speed. Defensive ball hawk converts steals into layups. Big-shot maker in crunch time. The greatest multisport athlete in school history.
Kersh is as good a point guard as there is in Georgia and basketball isn’t even her main, or apparently, best sport. She is considered one of the very best soccer plays in America for her age and has already committed to play for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in college as just a junior. The elite athleticism is painfully obvious as she dribbles around, by, and through the other team’s defense on the regular. She is a very good shooter from the midrange and three point line, where her percentage and play goes up the bigger the moment. Her vision and passing ability is second to none and her confidence and composure allow her to make plays that others simply can’t. I’m lucky to call Bob Corwin a friend and he and I both agree that if needed she could slide right over to basketball in South Bend in an emergency situation and play just fine for the Fighting Irish on the hardwood. She is a gamer and tough as nails.
Bristol, if she chose, would have been about as highly sought after on the hardwood as she was on the soccer pitch before choosing the Notre Dame Fighting Irish as the team she will play for in college. Kersh, just a junior, is as elite an athlete as you will find and has the IQ and skills to match at the point guard position. She is blur on the court, racing from end to end, scoring a ton of her points in transition on the fast break. She is also very efficient shooting the ball from the perimeter and breaking down defenders off the dribble and scoring in the half court. will be key if Cherokee Bluff is able to repeat and win another AAA state championship.
Kersh changes everything when she is on the court for Cherokee Bluff. In almost every game the Notre Dame soccer signee is the best athlete on the court and often by a large margin. Kersh’s quickest and length allow her to dominate stretches of the game on defense when Cherokee Bluff is in their full court press. She gets numerous tips and deflections that cause turnovers as well as reading the defense and intercepting passes that often lead to an easy layup. On offense, the same vision she uses on the soccer pitch is evident as she distributes the ball to her open teammates all over the court from longer than usual passes. Talking to other scouts at the event we agreed that if she had chosen basketball as her main sport, then Kersh would have been a division player in it as well.
The soccer phenom had a huge game with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Her speed and nose for the ball stood out as she was able to convert turnovers into transition points. Kersh’s lightning quick first step got her to the rim at will where she finished through contact. Bristol netted some of her trademark line drive floaters and jumpers off the bounce.
Bristol burst through the lane and banked in a floater at the buzzer to send Cherokee Bluff to their first ever state title game. Kersh scored 17 points to slip past Jenkins.
Up from No. 17: Star soccer player is a dynamic ball player. Elusive quickness. Shifty with the ball. Loves to penetrate and facilitate. Solid shooter. Gets a lot of steals and transition points.
Kersh had her mind set on getting to the basket. She was at her best when she was able to drive and kick to shooters. After a few rushed shots in the first half, Bristol settled in in the second half and started to find a groove but battled foul trouble throughout. She sank a pretty three off a dribble hand-off and later found a pair of baskets at the rim. The electrifying soccer athlete produced 11 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block.
While it seems soccer is her future, a nationally recognized star, Kersh is pretty darn good at basketball too. Bristol is a D-I athlete. She’s dynamic with her speed and quickness. Bristol is a true playmaker, a pass-first guard that loves to attack downhill and dump off assists. She uses eurosteps to get to the basket and is a threat to pull from the perimeter. Defensively, she is a menace from sideline to sideline, beating ball handlers to the spot. Kersh will be in the running for Class 4A Freshman of the Year. Expect her to fill the box score nightly.
