About Cadence

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Defensive-minded player with strong court vision and unselfish play. Known for smart passing, consistent shooting, and always putting the team first.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Humble and team-first mentality. I'm naturally shy but vocal and supportive on the court. I always put my teammates first and bring a positive, unselfish attitude every day.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Outside of basketball, I’ve been involved in robotics for most of my life and have a background in coding but have not done it recently. I’m fluent in Spanish and Chinese thanks to attending a trilingual immersion school. I’ve traveled internationally to gain global experience and am also part of my school’s surf team and enjoy playing with the flag football team.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve developed leadership and teamwork by stepping up as the starting point guard and helping with youth basketball camps at Pacifica Christian and the Buddhist Church of OC. Through robotics, I learned to use machines for building parts for my team and gave back to the community by volunteering as a referee at First Lego League (FLL) competitions.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, I faced a big challenge transitioning from my trilingual school to a new school and basketball team. It was scary at first, but I overcame my fear and adjusted. Stepping up to be the point guard pushed me out of my comfort zone, but it helped me grow as a player and a leader.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m interested in attending a smaller university with a strong basketball program and smaller class sizes. I’d love to be somewhere it snows and am open to schools outside of California—as long as it’s the right fit for me academically and athletically.
