McDonald is a slick lefty that plays with a great pace while consistently contributing to impactful plays. Carly has a quick first step and shows an impressive ability to change speeds. She plays tall along with a slight bounce in her step. There’s not too much offensively that McDonald can’t do. Her nifty handle combined with her lefty style of play makes defenders a bit uneasy when guarding her. Defenders tend to give her angles that fit her advantage. When they do cut her off, her ability to counter on the spot while still remaining in route to the basket is magnificent. Carly can truly run either guard position because of her playmaking capacity for herself and others. McDonald also shows a nice in-between game with her midrange. Additionally, Carly includes some different scoring options from dribble handoffs. Defensively, McDonald uses her craftiness to disrupt ballhandlers in the halfcourt. Altogether, Carly offers a lot of value to positive play and a coach will without question find her a desirable talent. McDonald can be the best guard on the floor at any given night.
