We saw several talented hoopers at the State Tournament a few weeks ago in DSM. One of the best Forwards that we saw was Cassidy Danburg Cassidy Danburg 6'2" | PF Waukee NW | 2027 State IA of Waukee NW. Danburg did her thing. She controlled the boards against other talented D1 prospects, she got her own in the scene of shot opportunities and buckets, she made the most of mismatches that were thrown her way, she defended early and late within possessions, and she never took her foot off the gas running down the court. Everyone who has seen Danburg compete knows that there is potential in her future on the hardwood. With her natural height, even for her position, she is going to be able to kill it over the next 4-5 years. She just has to find her future home and the rest will be history!

One of the keys for Waukee NW to win a 5A State Title this season is their Forward play. They need to dominate down-low in every imaginable way. Which is doable with who they have on roster moving into regular season play. Danburg demonstrated as a Sophomore that she is the real deal at 6’2. She can do her thing and kill her matchup with her size or she can even handle it a little bit to attack off the dribble if the situation calls for it. Taking into consideration her age, skill level, and what she has shown in the past and it’s easy to see that Danburg is being under-recruited right now. I’m hoping Waukee NW can win it all this season and she can have a big hand in that. If that’s the case, then I’m sure the offers will start to flood in from all over the Country but we will have to wait and see.

The Winter ahead is going to be a telling one for prospects like Cassidy Danburg Cassidy Danburg 6'2" | PF Waukee NW | 2027 State IA . Coming off of a successful Sophomore season, Danburg is ready to show her dominance by taking over the state at the Forward position. If you have been paying attention, Danburg held her own last Winter against the best Post players throughout Iowa. (Some of which are D1 committed hoopers going to P4 college programs.) If she comes back more motivated than last time around, Danburg will have a chance to shine and her team will have a chance to win the 5A State Title this time around. She is very talented at 6’2 and that will be vital in the grand scheme of things these next few seasons.

Cassidy Danburg Cassidy Danburg 6'2" | PF Waukee NW | 2027 State IA is a multiple sport athlete, that is a viable option for her Waukee NW team on the Volleyball court at 6’2. Danburg is also skilled enough to compete on the college floor for Basketball one day, if she so chooses. Over the past year, Danburg has been a big stock riser on the hardwood. She has demonstrated that not only is she tall, she is coordinated, balanced, athletic, and fairly skilled. She can kill it near the basket or she can put the rock on the floor and go off the dribble to get to a more favorable spot from the outside. Defensively, someone you have to worry abut. After you beat you first opponent, if you don’t know where she is – the possession is probably going to end with a Danburg block or tip in some way. If I’m a college coaching staff, there is a lot to like here. Danburg is coming off of a weekend where she was playing effective ball, making everyone around her better with her passing/screening ability. Things college coaches love to see out of someone over 6’0.

We really saw Cassidy Danburg Cassidy Danburg 6'2" | PF Waukee NW | 2027 State IA step up to end the 2025 High School season at the 5A State Tournament. During that run, Danburg demonstrated that she was more than a back to the basket player. She displayed that she can also step out to screen or handle while attacking the bucket. Danburg followed the up with having a respectable AAU run with her Iowa Battlers Team. Danburg showed off each week that she was a prospect to worry about next to the hoop. If you don’t, she will have 10/10 by halftime in every contest she participates in. Her height at 6’2, she touch on the ball, and her adaptability is solid. It’ll take her places at the next level before you know it.

Cassidy Danburg Cassidy Danburg 6'2" | PF Waukee NW | 2027 State IA sneaks into the Top Ten for the 2027 Class in Iowa for the very first time in this Update and for good reason. Danburg is a 6’2 PF, who is fairly coordinated with balanced and great touch on the ball. She is fairly good at getting past her defender when they over-play her or press her and she doesn’t seem to feel a ton of pressure in big moments. She just kind of keeps it moving and that’s something you love to see as a future collegiate prospect. I have a feeling Danburg is going to sneak into the D1 conversation the next six months. She is hungry for a respectable Junior campaign and I think she is going to bring it full-force come State Tournament time once again this Winter.

Don’t be shocked when Cassidy Danburg Cassidy Danburg 6'2" | PF Waukee NW | 2027 State IA of Waukee NW and Iowa Battlers AAU gets offered over this next three months. From my understanding, Danburg has been in talks with some D1 programs since last AAU season and it’s getting to the point where I’m sure that they will pull the trigger. As a post, Danburg has showed this past month that she can match up with some impressive others down in the paint. Others that will one day be competing at a P4 level, somewhere across America. Danburg displays her reach, soft touch, and balance by navigating near the hoop for easy attempts from all around. From there, she would bring her defender out past 15FT, catch and put it on the ground, eventually finishing at the bucket once again. When it comes to defense, as you could imagine this is the definition of a game-changer. With her lurking but the blocks, you always have to watch out for her as an opponent or else it going to get spiked into the ground like a Volleyball. In this Update, Danburg moves within the Top 15 to #14. A spot she should be proud of but there is still more work to be done.

and the Maroons. She was much more aggressive in this matchup than she was in their QF game and that was important to keeping this thing close. She scored early in the game at the hoop off of a solid take from the elbow. She made the bigs for DC come out to the outside to stick with her, opening up the middle of the court for her guards to attack. All while keeping great pace and continue to keep on moving the entire time. If Danburg continues to play like this during AAU season, I’m sure she is going to return next Winter with a handle of collegiate offers.

Waukee NW is a team out of the 5A Class, that everyone is going to have to watch out for when it comes to Playoff time in a few short weeks. A reason that the Wolves are a unique program is because of their laundry list of skilled prospects at each position. At the Center/Power Forward spot, they have players like Cassidy Danburg Cassidy Danburg 6'2" | PF Waukee NW | 2027 State IA at 6’2. Danburg isn’t the most physical but she has size, she has a motor, she has naturally reach, and she doesn’t give up on a play – those four things combined within a player can take you a long way. As we always say, you can’t teach size and that’s what we have here. An able prospect with great size and a smart head on her shoulders. In reality, she checks off a lot of boxes that college coaches might have.

I really like Cassidy Danburg Cassidy Danburg 6'2" | PF Waukee NW | 2027 State IA ‘s game and how effective she is on both sides of the floor. Defensively, Danburg moves her feet well and uses her experience on the volleyball court to elevate and block shots (she had a six-block game just last week). Offensively, Danburg is shooting a cool 55% from the floor while averaging 5.9 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. She’s mobile, runs the floor well, and isn’t afraid to get physical in the post — the 6’2″ sophomore can also step out and hit the three ball. On a young and talented Waukee Northwest team, I expect to hear Danburg’s name more and more.
