Every season at the State Tournament we see a handful of prospects hooping that are going to excel at the next level in another sport like Track, Soccer, or Volleyball. This season one of those players was CG – Channing Johnson Channing Johnson 5'11" | CG Denver | 2026 IA . Johnson was a lethal 5’11 Guard for the Cyclones all Winter long. Her endurance, soft touch on the ball, length, and athletic ability was superior to most that she came up against. I understand why Johnson will be running track at D2 – Wayne State. She out paces everyone on the hardwood and she is only going to get more athletic as she gets into her physical prime over the next 2-3 years. That’s why she kills it in high school athletics and that’s why she is going to continue to kill it at the next level after putting together a heck of a high school career.

Denver put together a season to remember as a whole the past few months. They handled almost every matchup put in front of them until they got to the State Semi’s and that’s something to be proud of. Their work horse for the past four years, who was a big threat this past week for the Cyclones is 5’11 – Channing Johnson Channing Johnson 5'11" | CG Denver | 2026 IA . Johnson put up 22 and 12 in their Round One matchup where they escaped by 2 points. In Round Two they fell just short but she still led the team in scoring while chipping in as a rebounder, distributor, and defender. Johnson has had a heck of a high school career. One that she is going to be able to look back and be extremely satisfied with.
